Feb. 26

THEFT: A deputy investigated a theft of two horses and a large sum of cash that occurred at the Miami County Fairgrounds. This case is pending further investigation.

Feb. 27

TRAFFIC STOP: A deputy conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation at 2:53 a.m. on the 8500 block of South State Route 201 in Tipp City. At the conclusion of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to reinstate and drug possession.

TRAFFIC STOP: A deputy conducted a traffic stop at 5:11 a.m. in the area of South County Road 25A and Swailes Road in Concord Township. After further investigation, the driver was arrested for OVI and issued a citation of possession of marijuana.

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at 7:11 a.m. on the 9500 block of North Spiker Road in Washington Township.

BURGLARY: A deputy was dispatched to a report of a burglary not in progress on the 6300 block of Iddings Road in Union Township. After an investigation, a four wheeler was found to have been stolen from a detached garage to a vacant home. This case is pending further investigation.

ACCIDENT: A traffic accident with injuries was reported at 10:27 a.m. in the area of South State Route 201 and Ross Road in Bethel Township.

WELFARE CHECK: A deputy responded to Vine Street in Bradford in reference to a welfare check regarding a juvenile playing near a partially frozen swimming pool. The juvenile was located back at his residence unharmed upon arrival. This case is closed.

FRAUD: A deputy responded to a report of a fraud involving a phone scam on State Route 55 in Union Township. The reporting party advised they were concerned their personal identity information was compromised and requested the incident be documented. A report was taken of the incident. This case is closed.

TRESPASSING: A deputy was dispatched to the 6200 block of U.S. Route 40 in Bethel Township in reference to a welfare check. After further investigation, it was found to be a trespassing complaint. The deputy was unable to make contact with the suspect.

SUSPICIOUS: While on patrol in the assigned area, deputies located an unlocked cargo trailer at a construction site on the 4500 block of Frederick Garland Road in Union Township. The owner of the company responded, and it was discovered the trailer had been broken into and items inside were stolen.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: A deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of West Geiserman Road in Springcreek Township in reference to a criminal damaging complaint. Upon further investigation an unknown individual at this time came onto the property and smashed the front windshield of the reporting parties vehicle. Small scratches were also located on the front passenger window of the vehicle as well. This case is pending further investigation.

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at 11:21 p.m. in the area of South State Route 201 and Singer Road in Bethel Township.

Feb. 28

RECKLESS OPERATION: A deputy spoke with a bus driver for the Miami East school district in reference to a driver running the school bus stoplights at 8:21 a.m. on the 5100 block of Troy Sidney Road in Staunton Township. The driver of the vehicle was identified, and a citation was issued.

FRAUD: A deputy was dispatched to U.S. Route 40 in Bethel Township in reference to a fraud complaint. The reporting party only wanted the incident documented.

WELFARE CHECK: A deputy was requested to check the welfare of a student who had not responded to school on Garbry Road in Piqua at 10:25 a.m. After investigation, this case is closed.

FRAUD: A deputy took a fraud report on station that took place in Springcreek Township. A report was completed. This case is closed.

TRAFFIC STOP: A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at 3:34 p.m. in the area of West State Route 185 and North Rangeline Road in Newberry Township. After investigation, the driver was cited for speed, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

ASSIST MOTORIST: A deputy responded to the report of an assist motorist complaint at 7 p.m. in the area of North Alcony Conover Road and East U.S. Route 36 in Brown Township. A single vehicle had backed off the roadway while making a U-turn and was unable to get out. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The male driver was later cited for OVI and failure to control and was later released to a family member.

TRESPASSING: A deputy responded to a trespassing complaint at 7:48 p.m. on the 5400 block of South State Route 202 in Bethel Township. An intoxicated neighbor walked onto the property and into a horse barn. The reporting party did not wish to file charges and only wanted the incident documented. Case closed.
