TROY — The Miami Valley Veterans Museum has multiple ways for citizens to get involved and help support the veterans of the community.

Fundraising is a big part of that community involvement which helps MVVM complete their mission “to honor, preserve and perpetuate the legacy of Miami Valley veterans.”

The museum has a few upcoming events they would like to invite community members to attend in support of MVVM and the veterans. The first upcoming event is their Benefit Dance on Sunday, Oct. 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. The dance is sponsored by the Ohio 2-step Dance Club and the Miami Valley Stars. The dance will be held at the Michael Solomon Pavilion located at 2917 Berkley St. in Dayton. The event costs $10/per person and will have other optional fundraising activities on site during the dance.

Then on Saturday, Nov. 5, MVVM is hosting Dancing with the Miami Valley Stars. There will be two separate shows, both held at A Learning Place at 201 Robert M Davis Parkway in Piqua. The morning show will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The morning show is more casual and costs $20/person. Doors for the morning show open at 10:30 a.m. with a donut breakfast provided and dancing begins at 11 a.m. Veterans and children ages 6-17 will receive a half price discount for the morning show.

The dinner buffet and finale show is a semi-formal event that begins at 4 p.m. with the doors, bar and open dancing beginning at 3 p.m. The finale show lasts from 4 to 8 p.m. with open dancing until the end of the event at 10 p.m. The dinner show costs $50/person and no discount for veterans or children is available. The dinner buffet will include beef and chicken selections, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls and assorted desserts.

Tickets for both shows of Dancing with the Miami Valley Stars can be purchased by contacting Brenda Burns at [email protected]. Payment for tickets is accepted via CashApp, $dwtmvs; Venmo, @dwtmvs-mullins; or PayPal, @mvvm2009.

MVVM also accepts donations from the community. Community members can donate any amount via check made payable to Miami Valley Veterans Museum and sent to Cindy Mullins at 5999 E. State Route 571 in Tipp City. Donations such as new items, gift cards or services are also accepted for a silent auction.
