XENIA — The Troy volleyball team improved to 4-0 with a 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 win over Xenia Monday.

Anna Boezi had six kills and seven blocks, while Morgan Kaiser had eight kills, four blocks and 12 assists.

Kasey Sager and Brynn Siler had seven kills each, while Ellie Fogarty had 17 assists and 11 digs.

Macie Taylor led the defense with 15 digs.

Tippecanoe 3,

Piqua 0

PIQUA — The Tippecanoe volleyball team defeated Piqua 23-13, 23-17, 23-20 in three sets.

Tippecanoe improved to 4-0 and Piqua dropped to 0-4 on the season.

“Well this was our first away match of the season and it showed by the inconsistency in plays,” Tippecanoe coach Howard Garcia said. “It all started in the second half of the second set which and spilled over through the third set with 14 errors in that frame.

“Good match to test other players and they showed some good things. We had good swings going all night and lots of good out of system plays. Love the pursuit of non-conventional plays and the energy displayed by those on the sidelines who were ready to go. As we have learned…a win is a win so we learn and move on to the next.”

Ashley Aselage had 17 kills and seven digs and Olivia Gustavson added eight kills and three blocks.

Alexa Mader had five kills and two blocks and Hannah Wildermuth dished out 31 assists.

Scotti Hoskins had seven digs and Grace Kinsman had seven digs each and Alex Voisard led the defense with 10 digs. .

For Piqua, coach Jenni Huelskamp continued to see progress.

“We played tough against a strong opponent,” Huelskamp said. “We played well as a team and our communication was better. We need to continue to focus on executing our goals every set. We are getting better every match.”

Emily Baker had 12 kills and three blocks, while Jordan Adkins added three kills and two blocks.

Elizabeth Copsey had six assists and Aubree Schrubb had five assists and two aces.

Sydnee Hawk added one ace.

Reagan Toopes led the defense with 21 digs and Natalie Fogt added seven.

Covington 3,

COVINGTON — The Covington volleyball team defeated Anna 25-10, 25-20, 31-29 Monday.

“We came out ready to play and worked as a team throughout the match,” Covington coach Ellie Cain said. “Hitting errors almost cost us the third set, but we were able to take it one point at a time and pull it out .”

Taylor Kirker had 22 assists, four aces, two kills, two blocks and six digs, while Nigella Reck had two aces, 10 kills, three blocks and 11 digs.

Carlie Besecker had one ace, five kills, five blocks and 12 digs and Lauren York had one assist, one ace, three kills and 12 digs.

Kearsten Wiggins had one assist, one ace, two kills, one block and seven digs and Emmaline Kiser had four aces, three kills, two blocks and two digs. Reaghan Lemp added two digs.

TIPP CITY — In a matchup of two of the top soccer teams in the area, lightning stopped a scoreless game with 31:57 remaining.

“This was a great high school soccer game tonight that unfortunately got ended by the weather conditions,” Bethel coach bob Hamlin said. “This was an uptempo affair that had some very dangerous scoring opportunities for both sides.

” I am very proud of the way our guys came out tonight ready to play and did not back down. We bent a few times but did not break. We will build from this and go ahead.”

Bethel is now 2-0-1 and Troy Christian is 0-1-2.

MONROE — The Troy girls soccer team lost 4-0 to Monroe Monday night.

Jovie Studebaker had 11 saves.

PIQUA — The Piqua girls soccer team lost 2-0 to Northmont Monday night at Wertz Stadium.

TIPP CITY — The Bethel girls soccer team recorded an 8-0 win over Troy Christian Monday.

Julie Sprague scored two goals.

Maddie Montgomery had one goal and three assists and Rhyan Reittinger, Emma Wasek and Faith Wiley each had one goal and one assist.

Kacie Hensley and Madi Mckenzie had one goal each and Victoria Layton added an assist.

SIDNEY —The Piqua girls tennis team lost 5-0 to Sidney.

In singles, Izzy King lost 6-1, 6-2; Diya Patel lost 6-1, 6-2; and Lauren Hicks lost 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles, Nataya Yagub and Sierra Leonard lost 6-2, 7-5 and Allison Hicks and Aby Smay lost 6-2, 6-3.

TIPP CITY — The Milton-Union boys golf team picked up a TRC win over Troy Christian Monday.

Nathan Thompson was medalist with 40 for Milton-Union.

Other Milton-Union scorers were Colin Fogle 45, Grady Vechazone 47 and Tyler Leffew 49.

Troy Christian scorers were Noah King 47, Zane Harris 47, Chase Dohme 52 and Jesse Barnard 54.

EATON — The Bethel girls golf team lost a close match to Eaton on the front nine at Eaton Country Club Monday.

Bethel scores were Kerigan Calhoun 54, Kaylee Brookhart 57, Aly Bird 63, Paige Kearns 66 and Abby Stratton 69.
