Pentaudi, Besecker take coaching honors; Mader named MVL Player of the Year

Tippecanoe coach Christina Pentaudi and Bradford coach Chris Besecker took top honors on the girls basketball All-Southwest District teams.

Pentaudi was named D-II Coach of the Year after guiding Tipp to a 22-1 record and the sectional finals.

Besecker was named D-IV Coach of the Year after guiding Bradford to a 20-6 record and the D-IV district finals.

Macie Taylor of Troy was named to the third team in Division I, while Karley Johns of Piqua was named honorable mention.

Tippecanoe’s Ashleigh Mader was named to the first team in D-II, while The Red Devils’ Rachel Wildermuth was named to the second team and Katie Hemmelgarn was named honorable mention.

Bethel’s Kenna Gray was named to the first team in D-III, while the Bees’ Liv Reittinger was named to the third team.

Named honorable mention were Rori Hunley, Miami East; Karley Moore, Bethel and Madison Jones, Jayla Gentry and Morgan Grudich, Milton-Union.

Bradford’s Austy Miller was named to the first team in D-IV, while Covington’s Carlie Besecker was named to the third team.

Named honorable mention were Rylee Canan, Bradford; Gracie Anderson, Claire Fraley and Claudia Harrington, Covington; Camryn Gleason, Newton; and Morgan Taylor and Sarah Johnson, Troy Christian.

MVL

Ashleigh Mader took top honors on the All-MVL team, averaging 13.3 points, 4.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 steals.

Also named to the first team were Troy’s Macie Taylor, Tippecanoe’s Rachel Wildermuth and Piqua’s Karley Johns.

Named to the second team were Tippecanoe’s Katie Hemmelgarn and Kenna Smith.

Named honorable mention were Morgan Kaiser and Brynn Siler, Troy and Reagan Toopes, Piqua.

SWBL

Milton-Union’s Morgan Grudich was named to the All-SWBL first team, while Madison Jones was named honorable mention.

MBC

Troy Christian’s Morgan Taylor and Sarah Johnson were named to the All-MBC first team, while the Eagles’ Erin Schenk was named to the second team.

CCC

Named to the All-CCC first team were Austy Miller, Bradford; Kenna Gray and Liv Reittinger, Bethel; Carlie Besecker and Claudia Harrington, Covington; and Rori Hunley, Miami East.

Named to the second team were Rylee Canan, Bradford; Claire Fraley, Covington; Cadence Gross, Miami East; and Camryn Gleason, Newton.

Named honorable mention were Karley Moore, Bethel; Cassi Mead, Bradford; Gracie Anderson, Covington; Paxton Hunley, Miami East; and Tori Benedict, Newton.

NWCC

Lehman Catholic’s Anna Cianciolo was named to the All-NWCC second team, while the Cavaliers’ Mara O’Leary and Heidi Toner were named honorable mention.
