PIQUA — The Piqua Fire Department is pleased to award Brad Weer with the 2021 Firefighter of the Year award, stating he is a true leader with a very positive attitude and is always looking to help the community. Weer has a vast amount of knowledge, and the Piqua Fire Department appreciates him as a member of the department.

Weer stated, “It’s an honor to be selected by my co-workers as Firefighter of the Year for the Piqua Fire Department. Thank you very much for this award, it means a great deal to me.”

Weer joined the department on August 30, 1999 and has a passion for fire services. The department views him as an asset who is very dedicated, hardworking, easy to get along with, and an exceptional leader.

Each year the Piqua Fire Department awards one firefighter as Firefighter of the Year based on five criteria: leadership, professionalism, work attitude, job performance, and cooperation with peers, supervisors, and the public. Each member votes for the firefighter they feel best exemplifies the qualities needed to represent the department.
