Piqua Optimist Club holds basketball competition

PIQUA—The Piqua Optimist Club held its annual Tri-Star Basketball competition on Saturday, March 23.

Physical Education teachers in local schools held preliminary competitions within their schools and sent representatives to the competition. Students were asked to demonstrate skills in passing, shooting and dribbling for the contest.

Trophies were given for boys and girls placing first, second and third in three age categories.

Boys 8-9: First place, Jamisen Smith; second place, Henderson Karn; third place, Parker Bates.

Girls Age: 8-9: First place, Kaitlyn Cox; second place, Harper Burnside; third place, Frankiey Webb.

Boys 10-11: First place, Tyler Hampshire; second place, Tucker Hammons; third place, Luke Swartz.

Girls10-11: First place, Nevaeh Ballou; second place, Lana LeMaster; third place, Morgan Osborne.

Boys 12-13: First place, Vincent Karn; second place, Griffen Hickerson; third place Elijah Hewitt.

Girls 12-13: First place, Madison Sorrell; second place, Dana Johnston.
