Dec. 17

DRIVING WITHOUT CONSENT: An officer responded to a call referencing a juvenile taking a relative’s vehicle without permission on the 600 block of South Wayne Street at 8 a.m. The reporting party also stated money was stolen from the vehicle.

THEFT: Christmas decorations were reported stolen from a yard on the 900 block of Washington Avenue at 9:25 a.m.

DISORDERLY: A male and female were arguing outside Sunoco, 8855 N. County Road 25A, at noon. The individuals left prior to officer arrival.

THEFT: A female employee reportedly used money from the cash register at the Marathon gas station, 226 W. Water St., to purchase drugs from a subject that came into the store at approximately 3 p.m. Female admitted to using the money to pay for the drugs. Female was terminated by store manager and charged with theft. Dakota M. Wallace, 27, of Piqua, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft in connection with this incident.

THEFT: Police responded to Walmart in reference to a male subject stealing items at 3:30 p.m. Male was located and charged. Marvin B. Jones, 40, of Piqua, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft in connection with this incident.

ACCIDENT: A private property accident was reported at Walmart at 3:45 p.m.

DISORDERLY: An officer responded to a call referencing an intoxicated male sleeping in a vehicle and refusing to go into his residence on the 500 block of First Street at approximately 5 p.m. Male was located, charged with disorderly conduct, and transported to a relative’s house. Paul L. Levan, 61, of Piqua, was cited with minor misdemeanor disorderly conduct in connection with this incident.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: An unknown female trespassed in a yard and attempted to take a Christmas display on the 500 block of Brice Avenue at approximately 7 p.m. The Christmas display no longer works.

TRESPASSING: A male was trespassed from Lucky’s, 108 N. Main St., at approximately 10:20 p.m.

Dec. 18

THEFT: Police responded to a call referencing a business, Camping World located at 8793 N. County Road 25A, having items stolen off their lot. Business did not have any suspect information.

SUSPICIOUS: A caller stated two males were fighting outside Walmart at 4:13 p.m. The subjects were gone when officers arrived on scene.

THEFT: A white gnome statue was reported stolen from in front of a door to an apartment at the Wood Street Lofts.

SEX OFFENSE: Juvenile female reported an adult male subject touched her inappropriately. Investigation is pending.

Dec. 19

SUSPICIOUS: Report of shots fired at 12:45 a.m. on the 600 block of McKinley Avenue. Area was checked, and officer found no evidence of shots being fired.

HIT SKIP: An officer found a stop sign had been hit by a vehicle at approximately 1 a.m. in the area of Weber and South streets. The vehicle left the scene.

THEFT: Christmas decorations were reported stolen from a yard on the 600 block of Cottage Avenue.

FELONIOUS ASSAULT: Bradley M. Long, 32, who has addresses in Springfield and Vandalia, was charged with second-degree felonious assault and third-degree felony abduction in connection with an incident that took place inside a residence on Beverly Drive at 9:25 p.m. Long is accused of holding a knife to the victim’s throat during an altercation. Long was charged with abduction due to being accused of restraining the liberty of the victim by threatening to kill the victim.

Long was arraigned on Dec. 20 in Miami County Municipal Court, during which he pleaded not guilty. His bond was set at $200,000. A preliminary hearing for Long is scheduled for Dec. 28. Long is incarcerated in the Miami County Jail.
