Piqua police reports highlights

PIQUA — All information is provided by the Piqua Police Department.

TRESPASSING: An officer responded to a call referencing a male subject trespassing at Unity National Bank at 2:50 p.m. on Feb. 14. Male was located and arrested for criminal trespass. Christopher K. Ballweg, 59, of Troy, was cited for fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespass in connection with this incident.

While performing a building check at a local business, an officer observed a subject sleeping inside at 3:15 a.m. on Feb. 15 at the Southside Laundromat on Wayne Street. The subject had previously been warned for trespassing at the business. He was cited for the offense. Bryon L. Jarrett, 31, of Piqua, was cited for fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespass in connection with this incident.

WARRANT: While on patrol, an officer observed a male with a warrant walking on West Water Street at 4:10 p.m. on Feb. 14. Warrant was confirmed, and he was arrested. Ricky D. Cross, 41, of Piqua, was picked up on charges of first-degree misdemeanor drug possession and fourth-degree misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

A male with a warrant was located and arrested on the warrants at 2:40 p.m. on Feb. 15 on the 1400 block of South Street. Scott J. Hartzell, II, 31, of Piqua, was picked up on first-degree misdemeanor theft.

Police responded to a report of a domestic at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 in the area of South Main and Garnsey streets. Subjects left prior to police arrival. Vehicle was located, and both advised it was just verbal. Male driver had active warrant. He was arrested and cited for driving under suspension. Christopher R. French, 22, of Piqua, was picked up on misdemeanor charges of failure to reinstate license, failure to appear, and reckless operation.

OBSTRUCTING: A male subject with a gun was given several commands by officers to show his hands at 7:15 a.m. on Feb. 15 on the 100 block of Mound Street. He reportedly did not comply and was tased and taken into custody. Andrew M. Baker, 24, of Troy, was charged with second-degree misdemeanor obstructing official business in connection with this incident.

THEFT: There was a report of a female subject in Walmart concealing items at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Feb. 14. Officer located the female outside of the business with items concealed in a large purse. The female also had a bag full of items she had switched the tags on. The female was charged with theft. Charity L. Turner, 38, of Piqua, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft in connection with this incident.

An officer responded to a call referencing a theft in progress from a Shoe Sensation on the 1200 block of East Ash Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. Male subject was located and arrested. Daniel T. Orndorff, 24, of Piqua, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft in connection with this incident.

Police responded to a call in reference to a suspect from a prior theft of a coat being located at the Miami Valley Centre Mall at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 15. Female suspect was arrested for theft, and the property was recovered. Sherry Hensley, 47, of Union City, Ind., was charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft in connection with this incident.
