Local blood drives announced
TROY — Two area churches will host blood drives this coming week.
The First Presbyterian Church of Troy community blood drive will be held Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 20 S. Walnut St., Troy.
The Ginghamsburg Church community blood drive will be held Saturday, Aug. 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 6759 S. County Road 25-A, Tipp City.
There is no deferral or delay in donating after receiving any COVID-19 vaccine. Appointments are encouraged and walk-ins are accepted as space allows. Schedule online at www.DonorTime.com or call 937-461-3220.
Church hosts worship at county fair
TROY — Cove Spring Church invites the community to worship at a special service at the Miami County Fair. The service will be held in the entertainment tent on Sunday Aug. 15 at 9:30 a.m.

Church to host luncheon drive-through
COVINGTON — The Covington Christian Church Women’s Fellowship Salad Luncheon drive-through will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20.
The drive-through can be entered from the alley off Pearl Street next to Covington Christian Church. Two containers full of the more popular salads, including the signature hot chicken salad and desserts all for donation, will be delivered to each vehicle. All meals will be prepackaged and ready for pickup. Special requests will not be taken at this time.
Stop by the church office to preorder and leave donations by July 15. Supplies will be limited, so arrive early if lunch hasn’t been reserved. Office hours are Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Questions may be directed to the office at (937) 473-3443. Covington Christian Church is located at 115 N. Pearl St., Covington.
Free Library available
TROY — A Little Free Library is located at Trinity Episcopal Church, 60 S. Dorset Road, Troy.
The Little Free Library is a small wooden box filled with books with the concept of “take a book, return a book” book exchange. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share, and the library functions on the honor system.
One of Trinity’s members, Mary Siegel, brought the idea to the church and is the primary caretaker or “Little Free Library Steward”. The steward is usually the person who put up the library. The steward takes care of basic maintenance like keeping the library clean and inviting, but it is up to everyone who uses the library to keep it stocked with good books.
Trinity’s Little Free Library is now in in place at the northeast corner of the front parking lot and is registered with a charter number, which adds the library to the world map of libraries.
Food for Children program announced
COVINGTON — Covington Christian Church is starting its seventh annual Food for Children program.
This is a summer lunch program designed for children 2 to 17 years of age. Children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by an adult. Each week the child will receive a meal at the park along with fun faith-based activities. All children in need will receive a bag of grocery items to take home for the rest of the week. Only children who attend will receive a grocery bag for that week.
This program is serving the Covington School District. Therefore, proof of address (utility bill, etc.) must be provided to register. Preregistration is preferred and available at church office Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be on-site registration available.
