TROY — St. Patrick School will be hosting the eighth annual Shamrock Shuffle 5k Race in March.

St. Patrick’s Day festivities will start a few days early in Troy this year. The St. Patrick School Alumni & Friends will again host the Shamrock Shuffle 5K Race starting at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, March 12. The race will begin at the Troy Memorial Stadium and continue along the bike path overlooking the scenic Miami River and past the Miami Shores golf course. It will then turn around and finish back at Troy Memorial Stadium. At the conclusion of the race, the St. Patrick’s Day festivities will continue as race participants and families will be treated to the now famous Kegs and Eggs breakfast at the St. Patrick Church Underecroft, 409 E. Main Street, Troy. Race awards will be presented during that time with the top three finishers in each adult age group receiving glass beer steins and medals will be awarded to the highest finishers in younger age divisions. Door prizes will be given out at that time as well.

St. Patrick School has been providing Catholic education for over 125 years in Troy. The proceeds from the race will support the St. Patrick Alumni & Friends Tuition Fund, an unrestricted fund created to offset student fees and provide financial support for St. Patrick families.

“This is always a fun event,” said Chuck Karnehm, a race committee member. “It’s fun to see so many people and families with their ‘Green On’ and just having a good time. It’s going to be a great event that helps St. Patrick School.”

Karnehm said that they anticipate 150 to 200 people to register for the race.

The race will be managed by Can’t Stop Running and you can register for the race at: www.cantstoprunningco.com.

Early packet pickup will be Friday, March 11 from 4-6 p.m. at the Troy Municipal Stadium in the Victory Room and same day packet pickup and registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the Victory Room.
