TIPP CITY — The Tipp City American Legion Post #586 presented donations to four area charities on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Every year, the Tipp City American Legion Post 586 makes donations to local charities that provide services to veterans, individuals, and families in the area, along with charitable programs sponsored by the American Legion.

This year, they selected the American Legion Gifts for Yanks Program, since they provide services, equipment, and other amenities needed by veterans in VA hospitals.

The Miami County Hospice was selected because of the comfort and support they provide to local individuals and families in the most trying of times when comfort and understanding are critical.

Buckeye Boys State offers an opportunity to young men who are Juniors in High School to learn how state, county, and city governments operate. This is a unique situation where the young men live for a week at Miami University and work with representatives from state and local governments learning how they perform their duties.

This year, the Tipp City American Legion Post is again sponsoring scholarships for veteran members’ sons, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. These scholarships will help them to continue their education and become productive members of local communities.
