Tippecanoe, Milton-Union, Troy Christian football open playoffs this weekend

Tippecanoe and Milton-Union football teams will open the playoffs on the road Friday night, while Troy Christian will be on the road Saturday night.

Mount Healthy

at Tippecanoe

The Red Devils will face a familiar opponent in the D-III, Region 12 playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday night.

Tipp lost to Mount Healthy in the 2019 playoffs, before defeating them in the playoffs last season.

Tipp is 8-2, while Mount Healthy is 6-4 on the season.

The Fighting Owls are led by junior running back Trey Cornist (6-1, 215) who has 1,302 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns on 186 carries.

Junior quarterback Troy Montgomery (6-1, 200) has completed 34 of 97 passes for 562 yards with six touchdown and five interceptions.

Sophomore receiver Ja’vier Etheridge (5-10, 145) leads the receivers with nine catches for 176 yards and three touchdowns.

Junior Erlin Aguilar (5-5, 140) is 14 for 24 on PATs, while sophomore Hector Lopez-Sanchez (6-0, 160) is 3-for-4 on field goals with a long of 23 yards.

Senior linebacker Nehemiah Reid (6-3, 185) leads the defense with 79 tackles.

Sophomore defensive lineman Aysa Hinkston (6-1, 230) has five sacks, senior linebacker Savion Cannon (5-11, 195) has four sacks and freshman defensive back Jai’Mier Scott (5-11, 175) has three interceptions.

Liam Poronsky (5-11, 178) runs the Tippecanoe power spread offense.

The junior quarterback has completed 108 of 181 passes for 1,164 yards with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Senior receiver Jason Rindler (6-3, 189) has 35 catches for 369 yards and five touchdowns, while senior Zach Butera (5-10, 159) has 27 catches for 311 yards and six touchdowns.

Senior running back Cayd Everhart (5-11, 183) has 1,249 yards and 17 touchdowns on 198 carries.

Junior kicker Jackson Kleather (5-10,158) is perfect on 39 PAT attempts and 3-for-5 on field goals.

Everhart leads the defense with 98 tackles from his linebacker position, while junior linebacker Josh Dietz (6-1, 188) has 72.

Senior defensive lineman Lawson Cook (6-2, 269) and Alex Burkey (5-11, 180) have four sacks, while senior defensive back Grayson Ring (6-2, 162) has three interceptions.

Indian Hill

at Milton-Union

Milton-Union, 9-1, will host Indian Hill, 5-5, in a D-IV, Region 16 playoff game at 7 p.m. Friday night.

Sophomore John Podojil (5-9, 170) has played quarterback for Indian Hil lthe last seven games.

He has completed 83 of 146 passes for 1,008 yards, with 12 TDs and one interception.

Senior Robbie Guttman (6-2, 190) is the leading receiver in the Cincinnati Hills League with 53 catches for 720 yards.

Senior Antwan Peek Jr. (6-2, 190) has rushed for 952 yards and 15 touchdowns on 162 attempts. Peek has also returned a punt for a touchdowns.

Sophomore kicker Alex Grace (6-3, 175) has made 26 of 28 PAT attempts.

Senior linebacker Will Adair (6-1, 210) has 94 tackles and senior linebacker Cooper Wyler (6-1, 170) has 73 tackles.

Guttman leads the defensive backfield with three interceptions.

Junior Blake Brumbaugh is a threat all over the field for the Bulldogs.

He has scored almost every way imaginable.

Brumbaugh (6-1, 180) has 31 catches for 654 yards and seven touchowns, has 508 yards rushing and seven touchdown on 90 attempts and has completed both passes he has thrown.

He has returned a punt for a touchdown, returned a fumble for a touchdown and shared the TRC lead with five interceptions and leads the team with 58 tackles.

Junior quarterback Nate Morter (5-11, 185) has completed 68 of 129 passes for 1,1163 yards with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Junior running back Michael Elam (5-10, 175) leads the rushing attack with 749 yards and nine touchdowns on 104 carries.

Senior running back Blake Neumaier (6-1, 210) has 508 yards and 11 touchdown on 90 carries.

Junior kicker Mason Grudich (5-8, 165) is 47 for 51 on PATs and 6-for-7 on field goals, with a long of 37 yards.

Junior linebacker Connor Yates (6-4, 210) leads the pass rush with 5.5 sacks, junior defensive lineman Jake Brown (5-10, 230) has 4.5 sacks and junior linebacker Cooper Brown (6-2, 174) has three interceptions.

Troy Christian

at Portsmouth ND

The Eagles have a long road trip, opening at 7-2 Portsmouh Notre Dame Saturday night in a D-VII, Region 28 playoff game.

Junior quarterback Lee Burkett has completed 39 of 65 passes for 495 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Senior Zach Weaver is his favorite target, with 15 catches for 196 yards and a touchdown,

Senior running back Landon Rich leads the rushing attack with 832 yards and 14 touchdowns on 115 attempts.

Senior Gavin Blore averages 33 yards on kick returns and 11.6 yards on punt returns, with one kickoff return for a touchdown.

Senior Hunter Williams is 29-for-29 on PATs and 2-for-3 on field goals.

Senior Chase Brown leads the defense with 69 tackles and sophomore Paul McDonald has 63.

Senior Jonathan Haddad has three interceptions.
