Staff report

TROY — This week, employees from Troy’s Park Department are working on constructing a gazebo at the Monarch Habitat at Treasure Island Park.

According to a post on social media from the city of Troy, the city’s Park Department will place several bird feeders in the area this spring, creating a place for birdwatchers to relax, enjoy nature, and learn more about local avifauna.

The Troy Foundation, Rotary District 6670, and the Troy Rotary Foundation joined the city in funding this park improvement project. Wild Birds Unlimited will provide guidance on bird feeder types, as well as discounted feeders and equipment. Wild Birds Unlimited will also maintain the feeders to create a lasting habitat for birds and a welcoming space for visitors.

The community is encouraged to watch the city’s website at troyohio.gov for a web cam of the bird feeder station, as well as detailed information on the habitat and its wildlife

Treasure Island is located at 409 N. Elm St., Troy.
