TROY — Troy Mayor Robin Oda and Development Director Tim Davis recently announced the Revitalize Troy 2024: A Downtown Facade Improvement Grant Program.

At its regular meeting on May 6, Troy City Council authorized an overall budget of $120,000, with $75,000 provided from the city’s general and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, as well as contributions of $35,000 from the Troy Reinvestment Fund and $10,000 from Troy Main Street.

A reboot of the highly successful 2022 Revitalize Troy grant program, Revitalize Troy 2024 will offer eligible commercial property owners in Troy’s Central Business District reimbursement matching funds of up to $10,000 or 50% of eligible building improvements (whichever is less). Eligible projects include exterior improvements such as painting, brickwork, awnings, lighting, or window replacement.

In 2022, the city of Troy and Troy Main Street created the Revitalize Troy Downtown Facade Improvement Grant Program, which awarded $150,000 of federal ARPA funds to 13 non-residential downtown building exterior renovation projects. Projects of up to $18,000 were funded to make various eligible exterior improvements such as repairs or replacement of windows, lighting, roofs, and more. The 2022 grant funds leveraged over $400,000 in total building reinvestments and there were more applications than available funding.

“Making this program available again to our downtown building owners and businesses is something that we are excited to be able to do, and we applaud the community partners who have come alongside to make even more money available for this program,” Oda said. “We were impressed with the effort, time and resources employed by those who participated in the 2022 program, and we want to make it available again to provide an assist to those who are reinvesting, renovating, and reinvigorating our historic downtown.”

Eligibility criteria will be similar to the 2022 program and can be found at https://troyohio.gov/780/Revitalize-Troy-Program. Visit the website for more information or contact City of Troy Community Development Manager Nikki Reese at 937-339-9601.
