Troy girls take over MVL lead; Anderson scores 26 in Piqua girls win

FAIRBORN — The Troy girls basketball team took over the lead in the MVL Wednesday night.

While the Trojans rolled to a 60-9 win over Fairborn, Butler upset Sidney.

Troy is now 12-5 overall and 12-1 in the MVL.

Sidney is 12-5 overall and 11-2 in the MVL.

Troy has big game with Butler Saturday at the Trojan Activity Center.

The Trojans led 18-4, 33-4 and 55-7 at the quarter breaks.

Macie Taylor led Troy with 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Amyannah Tucker scored 12 points and had five steals and Brynn Siler added 10 points and two blocked shots.

Kiyah Baker had eight rebounds, Morgan Kaiser pulled down five rebounds and Jovie Studebaker had four steals.

Piqua 54,

Xenia 51 OT

PIQUA — A career game from Kenzi Anderson sparked Piqua to its second win of the season, as the Indians topped the Bucs in overtime.

Piqua is 2-13 overall and 2-10 in the MVL, while Xenia is 2-10 overall and 2-8 in the MVL.

The Indians play at West Carrollton Saturday.

Anderson, who finished with 26 points, scored all five Piqua points in the extra period, while the Indians held Xenia to just two points.

Piqua had trailed 13-10 after one quarter and 28-20 at halftime.

The Indians rallied in the third quarter when Reagan Toopes tied the game at 30 with a basket and Anderson scored to give Piqua a 32-30 lead.

But, Xenia scored the final six points of the third quarter.

Chloe Stewart opened the fourth quarter with a basket and Toopes hit a 3-pointer put Piqua up 37-36 with 6:25 to go.

Again, Xenia opened a five-point lead before Piqua rallied.

Anderson tied the game at 45 with a basket with 2:26 to go.

Toopes hit two free throws with 2:20 remaining to tie the game 47-47.

Anderson would then hit two free throws with 1:17 to go to tie the game at 49.

Neither team would score again in regulation, leading to Anderson finishing off her career game in overtime.

Toopes and Stewart each added 11 points for the Indians.

Tippecanoe 54,

W. Carrollton 43

TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe girls basketball team got a big win in MVL play Wednesday night.

The Red Devils improved to 6-7 overall and 5-5 in the MVL.

West Carrollton led 11-9 after one quarter.

Tipp took a 25-22 halftime lead and increased it to 35-27 after three quarters.

Samantha Wall had 14 points and eight rebounds for Tipp.

Olivia Spiller had 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals and Laney Cleckner scored nine points.

Ashley Aselage had seven points and eight rebounds and Makenzi Chinn had seven points, three steals and two blocked shots.

Elizabeth Stallard added six points.
