TROY — Troy Main Street will be holding the next of its monthly First Friday events this Friday, March 4. This month offers fun for the whole family with the theme, Reading Rockstars.

Many local businesses of downtown Troy will be hosting readings and activities lead by volunteer educators and librarians from around the county. Events will take place in half-hour intervals beginning at 5:30 p.m. and running until 8 p.m.

Running alongside these events is a scavenger hunt, where kids can search for book characters hiding amongst the downtown shops. Clue sheets can be obtained at any of the participating businesses. While the hunt starts this Friday, you have until Friday, March 18 to complete it. Once completed, turn it into the mailbox at the Troy Local History Library. Everyone who finishes will be entered into a raffle to win a gift card to Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop.

While you are out attending the events, or completing your scavenger hunt, feel free to follow along with the story book walk. Pages of the story will be posted in the windows of participating downtown businesses, follow along to complete the story.

At St. John’s United Church of Christ, located at 126 S. Walnut St., there will be two book readings at 5:30 and 6 p.m. In addition to the readings, there will be play time for kids and snacks are provided.

Readings and activities are led by these volunteers at the following locations:

• Mr. Allen at The 3 Weird Sisters Studio located at 15 S. Market St.

• Ms. Capparelli at Be You Boutique located at 117 S. Market St.

• Ms. Fay at Pop-up located at 4 W. Main St.

• Mr. Feltner at Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop located at 1 E. Main St.

• Mr. Girolamo at Her, Realtors located at 11 E. Main St.

• Ms. Koester at Flagel, Huber, Flagel located at 206 W. Main St.

• Ms. Perry at For All Seasons Gift Boutique located at 2 W. Main St.

• Mr. Sadler at Samorzrejme located at 123 S. Market St.

“It is a great way [for] people to spend their time downtown. They can have dinner, go shopping, and have activities for their kids,” said Troy Main Street Executive Director Andrea Keller. First Friday events will always be on the first Friday of the month. The next one is April 1.
