TROY — Troy City Schools announced on its website on Thursday that the district will be closed on Friday, Jan. 14, due to staff and student illnesses.

“Due to the high number of unfilled staff absences as a result of illness, the Troy City Schools will be closed Friday, January 14. This will not be a remote learning this day. This will be a day off for students,” district officials said in a statement.

The district will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 17, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The district plans to resume classes following the holiday.

“It is our plan to return to regularly scheduled classes on Tuesday, January 18. We will continue to monitor this situation. We thank you for your patience during these difficult times,” the district stated.

The extra day off for Troy students follows the recent move of Tipp City Schools to go to remote learning, also related to a staff shortage caused by illnesses.
