DAYTON — The Tippecanoe volleyball team opened the season with a 25-11, 25-11, 25-14 win over Stebbins.

“It came down to our serve receive being very consistent and allowing us to get many good swings,” Tippecanoe coach Howard Garcia said. “We could have controlled some out of system scramble type of plays better. But, I like that we stayed true on playing quick and with emotion. It is a good start.”

Olivia Gustavson had eight kills, Alexa Mader had six kills and three blocks and Alex Voisard had six kills and five aces.

Hannah Wildermuth dished out 21 assists.

VANDALIA — The Piqua volleyball team lost 25-15, 25-10, 25-16 in MVL action Tuesday night.

Jordan Adkins had four kills and one block for Piqua and Sherry Sprowl had four kills.

Elizaabeth Copsey had nine digs and two aces and Marissa Bragg had eight digs.

Olivia Anthony dished out 13 assists.

COVINGTON — The Covington volleyball team defeated Brookville 25-13, 25-18, 25-17 in non-conference action Tuesday.

“We played a complete match and finished,” Covington coach Ellie Cain said.

Taylor Kirker had 10 aces, 34 assists and seven blocks, while Nigella Reck had 19 kills and 11 digs.

Carlie Besecker had eight kills and seven digs, Kearsten Wiggs had seven digs and Lauren York had 11 digs.

WEST MILTON — The Milton-Union volleyball team dropped a match to Dixie 26-24, 21-25, 25-14, 25-16 in non-conference action.

PIQUA — Izzy Thoma shot a 48 to lead the Piqua girls golf team to win over Xenia Tuesday in MVL action.

Carsyn Meckstroth had a 50 and Marin Funderburg carded a 52.

TIPP CITY — The Bethel girls golf team won a tri-match on the back nine at Homestead Golf Course Tuesday.

Kerigan Calhoun led Bethel with a 45.

Other Bees scores were Kaylee Brookhart 55, Paige Kearns 58, Abby Stratton 64 and Aly Bird 65.

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton girls soccer team got a home win over National Trail Tuesday.

Emma Szakal scored all four goals for Newton.

Brooke Hines and Ava Verkoff had two assists each and Reese Hess and Brilie Hines each had one assist.

Breanna Angle had five saves in goal.

SIDNEY — The Lehman Catholic girls tennis dropped a match with Valley View.

In singles, Lilly Williams lost 6-4, 6-4; Sarah Lins lost 6-1, 6-2 and Brooklyn Fortkamp lost 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Ashlyn Hamblin and Eliza Westerheide lost 6-1, 6-2 and Evelyn Johnston and Vivi Chen lost 6-0, 6-1.

Kyla McGinnis and Chelsea Mohler won a JV doubles match 8-4.
