SIDNEY — The Troy tennis team remained unbeaten with a 3-2 win over Sidney in MVL action Thursday.

“Yasashi (Masunaga) played a great first set against Grant Hoying, who will be the top seed in the sectional tournament,” Troy coach Mark Goldner said. “We were missing a couple players and again, Henry (Johnston) and both doubles came through to pull out a team win.”

In singles, Masunaga lost to Hoying 7-6 (3), 6-0; Johnston defeated Conley New 6-4, 6-2; and Nathan Mamitag lost to Kaden Abbott 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Michael Bruns and Aiden Miller defeated Brady Hogan and Takuma Furukawa 6-3, 6-3; and Cam Lambardo and Troy Whitehead defeated Michael Koester andChandru Pala 6-2, 6-2.

WEST MILTON — The Milton-Union tennis team improved to 5-3 with a 3-2 win over Carroll Thursday.

In singles, Tyler Kress lost to Jack Buhrman 7-6, 62; Ben Iddings defeated Chase Collins 6-0, 6-3 and Zeb Hines defeated Christian Bryant 6-0, 6-3.

In doubles, Joel Benkert and Lukas Knight lost to Kai Hary and Tony Nguyen 6-2, 6-4 and Carter Berner and Titus Copp defeated Jake Rauter and Max Weitz 6-3, 6-0.

Miami East 14,

Lehman 0

SIDNEY — The Miami East baseball team picked up a win at Lehman Catholic Thursday in TRC action.

Austin Francis was 4-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBIs.

Connor Apple was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Nathan Woolley was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Apple and Francis combined on a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking three.

Seth Kennedy and Nate Sollmann both doubled for Lehman.

Newton 10,

TC North 9

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton baseball team scored six runs in the fifth inning to erase a 9-4 deficit and improve to 10-0.

Hudson Montgomery had a double in the inning, Lane Bayer had a two-run single and Max Blair and Brady Downing both had RBI singles to cap the rally.

Montgomery was 2-for-5 in the game with two doubles and Bayer was 2-for-2.

Newton overcame five errors and six walks to get the win.

Montgomery and Bayer combined on a four-hitter, striking out 11.

Bradford 6,

Miss. Valley 2

UNION CITY— The Bradford baseball team got a road win in WOAC action.

Tucker Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and Landon Wills had a double and three RBIs.

Brenden Baker had a double.

Wills pitched a four-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two.

Tippecanoe 4

SPRINGBORO — The Tippecanoe softball team dropped a non-conference game Thursday.

Kyla Fry had two RBIs for the Red Devils.

Ella Henn and Anna Quinn combined on a eight-hitter, walking one.

Lehman 0

SIDNEY — The Kirby cousins both homered as Miami East cruised to a TRC softball win.

“It was a good win tonight,” Miami East coach Brian Kadel said. “We played on both sides of the ball.”

Kierra Kirby had a home run and three RBIs and Kyleigh Kirby was 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs.

Braven Mills also homered and had three RBIs and Kalli Teeters was 3-for-5 with two doubles.

Kayly Fetters had a double, Rachel Haak was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs and Reagan Howell had a double and two RBIs.

Jacqueline Kadel was 4-for-4 and Madison Maxson had two RBIs.

Kyleigh Kirby and Jacqueline Kadel combined on a two-hitter, striking out five and walking one.

Bethel 2

COVINGTON — The Covington softball team remained unbeaten in TRC play.

Nigella Reck was 4-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs.

Karyanne Turner was 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs and Meg Rogers and Erika Gostomsky were both 2-for-2 with a double.

Rogers and Alexa Hitchcock combined on a five-hitter, striking out six.

Allie Sheen was 2-for-3 for Bethel and Lily Williams homered.

Alyson Bird and Williams combined to strikeout four and walk three.

Bradford 21,

Miss. Valley 2

UNION CITY — The Bradford softball team cruised to a WOAC win.

Nylani Beireis was 4-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBIs.

Zoe Brewer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Abby Fike was 2-for-3 with a double.

Rylee Canan was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Shay Swick was 3-for-4 with a double and Austy Miller had a triple.

Alexis Barhorst was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Izzy Hamilton was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Remi Harleman was 2-for-4.

Breireis and Hamilton combined on a five-hitter, striking out eight.

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton softball team picked up its third straight win.

Laci Miller pitched a four-hitter and doubled.

Layla VanCulin was 2-for-2 and Sienna Montgomery was 2-for-4.
