The Troy baseball team improved to 8-1 with a second win on its Georgia trip Wednesday.

The Trojans defeated Dominion Christian 4-3.

Hayden Frey was 2-for-4 at the plate for Troy.

Andrew Helman and Brian Allen combined on a four-hitter, striking out four and walking two.

Newton drops

three games

The Newton softball team lost three games on its trip to Tennessee Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday, Newton lost to North Baltimore 6-5 in extra innings and lost to Conneaut 21-3.

Ashley Evans had a double and two RBIs against North Baltimore.

Sienna Montgomery was 2-for-4 with a triple and Layla VanCulin had a double.

Laci Miller walked four and struck out three on the mound.

Against Conneaut, VanCulin had three strikeouts.

Newton committed seven errors and only four of the 21 runs were earned.

In an early game Thursday, Newton lost to Station Camp 14-0 in three innings.

Miller and VanCulin combined to strikeout two and walk five.
