TROY — The Troy girls soccer team maintained a share of first place in the MVL Wednesday night, getting a 2-0 win over Butler at home.

Troy improved to 7-3 overall and 5-0 in the MVL with the win, while Butler dropped to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the MVL.

The Trojans got both goals in the games early going.

Troy got the only goal it would need less than seven minutes into the game.

Payton Vitangeli sent a ball to the right side and Leah Harnish outraced the Butler defense to the ball and fired a perfect shot into the upper right corner of the goal at the 33:06 mark.

Less than 10 minutes later, the Trojans used a sister act to make it 2-0.

Paige Vitangeli sent a ball through the middle of the Butler defense and Payton Vitangeli finished with with 23:40 remaining in the half to make it 2-0.

Troy would not score again, but the Trojans defense kept Butler from getting any good looks at the goal and goalies Astryd Littlejohn and Abbie Fleenor were flawless on the night.

Littlejohn blanked Butler in the first half with three saves, while Fleenor did the same in the second half with eight saves.

Troy would finish with 14 shots in the game.

GREENVILLE — The Tippecanoe girls soccer team improved to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the MVL.

Makenzie Chinn had three goals and two assists and Maddie Moran had three goals.

Chelsea Dettwiller had one goal and one assist and Kaylee Dennison and Alex Foster had one goal each.

Ella Turner had two assists and Megan Landis, Myah Trost, Sam Wall and Payton Zeh had one assist each.

Leah Adkins had the shutout in goal with three saves.

WEST CARROLLTON — The Piqua girls soccer team got a win on the road Tuesday night.

Kam Mikolajewski had two goals and Rachel Cavender, Torri Foster and Emma Kidd all had one goal.

WEST MILTON — The Milton-Union girls tennis team ran its record to 14-3 on the eason Tueday.

In singles, Shannon Brumbaugh defeated Lily Braswell 6-0, 6-0; Ellie Coate defeated Erin Kelsey 6-4, 6-2 and Maggie Black defeated Tyler Buxton 1-6, 7-6, 6-2.

In doubles, Peyton Henderson and Hazel Weber lost to Makayla Hibbard and Kennedi Robinson 6-0, 6-2 and Ashlyn McPherson and Megan Grove lost to Ashley Weiss and Daisy Carpenter 7-5, 1-6, 6-0.

SPRINGFIELD — The Lehman Catholic girls tennis team dropped to 5-9 on the season Wednesday.

In singles, Lilly Williams won 6-1, 6-1; Sarah Lins lost 6-4, 6-0 and Katie Huelskamp won 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles, Eliza Westerheide and Ashlyn Hamblin lost 6-2, 6-1 and Evelyn Johnston nd Vivi Chen lost 7-5, 6-1.

Kyla McGinnis and Chelsea Mohler won a JV doubles match 8-2.
