A big weekend in prep sports begins Friday as football teams wrap up the regular season and playoff spots are finalized.

In MVL action, Piqua travels to Stebbins looking to complete a 10-0 regular season and wrap up the MVL title, Troy will host Vandalia-Butler and Tippecanoe will entertain Greenville.

In TRC action Friday, Milton-Union will look to wrap up the TRC title when it travels to Riverside, Miami East will host Covington and Troy Christian will entertain Bethel.

On Saturday, Lehman Catholic will host Northridge.

In cross country on Saturday, the district meet will be held at Cedarville for all three divisions, with teams and individuals looking to advance to next week’s regional meet at Troy.

In Division II boys soccer action Saturday, Tippecanoe will host Greenville at 2 p.m. and Milton-Union will entertain Northwestern at 7 p.m.

In D-III boys soccer action, Bethel will host Preble Shawnee at 10 a.m. and in 2 p.m. games, Troy Christian will host Dixie and Miami East will entertain Brookville.

In D-III volleyball action at Brookville, Miami East will play Twin Valley South at 11 a.m. and Bethel will play Versailles at 2 p.m.

In Troy D-IV volleyball action, Newton and Covington will play at 3:30 p.m.

CENTERVILLE — The Piqua volleyball team improved to 11-13 with a 25-19, 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 15-8 win over 7-16 Springfield Wednesday night in Centerville D-I sectional action.

Piqua will play top seed Springboro in a district semifinal at 6 p.m. Monday.

It is Piqua’s first trip to the district semifinals since 2014.

“We played another great match and had another great win,” Piqua volleyball coach Jenni Huelskamp said.

Emily Baker had 17 kills and Cara Reed had eight kills.

Sydnee Hawk had four aces and three blocks, Aubree Schrubb dished out 22 assists and had 18 digs and Elizabeth Copsey added 12 assists.

Reagan Toopes led the defensse with 26 digs.

Tippecanoe 3,

Trotwood 0

NEW CARLISLE — The Tippecanoe volleyball team advanced to a Tecumseh D-II district semifinal with a 25-5, 25-6, 25-9 win over Trotwood-Madison Wednesday night.

Tipp will play Urbana in the district semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

“The team handled the match very well,” Tippecanoe coach Howard Garcia said. “We had very good serving and the team seemed to enjoy playing tonight. We had many opportunities and took advantage of it. Now, it is on to Tuesday night.

Ashley Aselage had eight kills and Olivia Gustavson added five kills.

Camie Gingerich served seven aces and Alexa Mader and Alex Voisard both served three aces.

Jenna Krimm dished out 11 assists, Ellie McCormick had nine and Scotti Hoskins added eight.

Fairlawn 3,

Lehman 0

TROY — The Lehman Catholic volleyball team lost to Fairlawn 25-9, 25-5, 25-10 Wednesday night in Troy D-IV sectional action.

Lehman closes the season with an 8-15 record.

Southeastern 3,

Bradford 0

COVINGTON — The Bradford followed team lost to Southeastern 25-20, 25-7, 25-23 in Covington D-IV sectional action Wednesday night.

Bradford closes the season with a 7-16 record.

Remi Harleman had five kills, while Abby Fike had nine assists and six digs.

Rylee Canan had 13 digs and Ramse Smith added seven digs.
