PIQUA — The Troy Christian boys basketball team recovered from a slow start and advanced against Lehman Catholic in Piqua D-VI sectional action Friday night with a 54-42 victory.

Troy Christian, 18-5, will play Fort Loramie at 7 p.m. Tuesday in sectional action.

Lehman Catholic closes the season at 13-10.

Parker Penrod had 13 points and Alex Free added 10 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Ben Major had eight points and Ben Rupnik and Lucas Day both scored seven points.

Tippecanoe 58,

Oakwood 42

KETTERING — The Tippecanoe boys basketball team advanced with a 58-42 win over Eaton Saturday at Trent Arena in first round action.

Tipp, 17-5, will play second seed Oakwood at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trent Arena.

Milton-Union 52,

Waynesville 38

KETTERING — The Milton-Union boys basketball team advanced in D-II sectional action at Trent Arena.

The Bulldogs, 19-4, picked up their first D-II tournament win in 14 years and will play the Kenton Ridge-Bellbrook winner Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Cooper Brown had 12 points, 11 rebounds and six steals and Connor Yates had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Blake Brumbaugh had 10 points and six steals and Ray Copeland scored eight points.

Newton 70,

Bradford 54

PIQUA — The Newton boys basketball team advanced in opening round action at Garbry Gymnasium Saturday night.

Newton, 13-10, broke open a close game in the third quarter and avenged a regular season loss to Bradford, 13-8.

Newton will play Russia at 7 p.m. Thursday in second-round action.

Chandler Peters had 24 points and 10 rebounds for Newton.

Harold Oburn had 17 points, 12 rebounds and a dunk, while Hudson Montgomery had 14 points and nine assists.

Quentin Smith added 10 points.

Tri-Village 73,

Newton 29

TROTWOOD — The Newton girls closed the season at 9-15 with a loss in the District semifinals.

“There are a lot of positives to build off from today and the season,” Newton coach Ryan Fiely said. “We will work hard in the off-season to continue and build the program.”

Reese Hess had 14 points and Mercedes Craig added 11.

Camryn Gleason finishes fifth on the Newton all-time scoring list with 835 points.

Greenon 47,

Miami East 32

DAYTON — The Miami East girls basketball team closed the season at 17-7 with a loss in the D-III district semifinals.

Maryn Gross scored nine points and Jacqueline Kadel added six points.

McKayah Musselman had eight rebounds, Logan Phillips pulled down six rebounds and Kayly Fetters had five rebounds.

Camryn Francis blocked two shots.
