TROY — The Troy girls soccer team advanced in D-I sectional play with a 2-0 win over Fairborn Monday night at Troy Memorial Stadium.

Troy, 9-6-2, will host Wayne at 7 p.m. Thursday night in second-round action. The two teams played to a 0-0 tie during the season.

Against Fairborn, Troy took a 1-0 halftime lead.

Maddie Brewer outraced Fairborn to a long ball and scored with 14:56 to go in the half.

With 8:47 to go in the game, Kendra Kovacs found the goal on a 25-yard shot for the final margin.

Jovie Studebaker had the shutout in goal.

Miamisburg 11,

Piqua 0

MIAMISBURG — The Piqua girls soccer team had the season end Monday in D-I sectional action.

Piqua finished the season with a 3-13-1 record.

TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe girls soccer team advanced in D-II sectional action.

Tippecanoe, 10-5-2, will host Kenton Ridge at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Milton-Union finished the season 2-10-5.

Makenzie Chinn had two goals and one assist and Sam Wall scored two goals.

Laney Cleckner and Payton Zeh each had one assist.

Alexis Walborn had four saves in goal and Leah Adkins had two saves in goal.

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton girls soccer team won a thriller with Catholic Central in D-III sectional tournament action Monday.

Newton, 9-5-3, will play at Bethel at 7 p.m. Thursday n second-round action.

The game was tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime and Newton won the game on PKs.

Newton’s goal in regulation was scored by Emma Szakal on an assist from Reese Hess.

Kyleigh Armentrout had eight saves during regulation and overtime.

CENTERVILLE — In Centerville D-I sectional action, the Piqua volleyball team opened play with a 28-26, 25-16, 25-19 win over Wayne.

Piqua, 10-13, will play Springfield at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in second-round action.

Emily Baker had eight kills and nine digs and Aubree Schrubb added six kills and 11 assists.

Camilla Nicholas had three blocks and Sydnee Hawk served five aces.

Elizabeth Copsey dished out 13 assists and Reagan Toopes led the defense with 12 digs.

Tippecanoe 3,

Milton-Union 0

NEW CARLISLE — The Tippecanoe volleyball team opened D-II sectional tournament play with a 25-10, 25-15, 25-10 win over Milton-Union Monday.

Tipp, 21-2, will play Trotwood-Madison at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in second-round action.

Milton-Union finishes the season at 3-20.

For Tippecanoe, Ashley Aselage had 12 kills and three blocks.

Olivia Gustavson had 10 kills and Alex Voisard had eight kills and six digs.

Scotti Hoskins dished out 23 assists.

BROOKVILLE — The Miami East volleyball team opened D-III sectional play with a 25-22, 25-14, 25-23 win over Middletown Madison Monday.

Miami East, 11-12, will play Twin Valley South at 11 a.m. Saturday in second-round action.

CINCINNATI — The Milton-Union doubles team of Taylor Falb and Shannon Brumbaugh finished fourth in the D-II district tennis tournament Saturday and advance to the state tournament beginning Friday at the ATP Tennis Center.

In the semifinals, they lost 6-2, 6-4 to Lexi and Cassie Larsen of Indian Hill.

In the third-place match, they lost 6-4, 6-1 to Lynn Kader and Payton Puryear of CHCA.

GREENVILLE — The Tippecanoe volleyball team finished regular season play with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-13 win over Greenville Saturday.

Tipp, 20-2 overall and 16-2 in the MVL, will open Tecumseh D-II sectional tournament play Monday at 5:30 p.m. against Milton-Union.

Olivia Gustavson had 12 kills, Ashley Aselage had nine kills and Alex Voisard had nine kills and four aces.

Alexa Mader had four blocks, Scotti Hoskins had 29 assists and seven digs and Grace Kinsman had eight digs.

PIQUA — The Piqua volleyball team closed regular season play with a 19-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-14 loss to Xenia Saturday.

Piqua, 9-13 overall and 8-10 in the MVL, will open Centerville D-I sectional tournament play at 6:30 p.m. Monday against Wayne.

Emily Baker had nine kills and Sydnee Hawk added eight kills.

Elizabeth Copsey had 14 assists and 13 digs and Aubree Schrubb added eight assists.

Reagan Toopes led the defense with 17 digs.

SIDNEY — In a TRC match to close the regular season, the Covington volleyball team topped Lehman Catholic 25-15, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18 Saturday.

Covington, 16-6 overall and 11-3 in the TRC, will open Troy D-IV sectional tournament play Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. against Troy Christian.

Lehman, 8-14 overall and 6-8 in the TRC, will open Troy D-IV sectional tournament play at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday against Fairlawn.

For Covington, Carlie Besecker had 16 kills, seven blocks, three aces and 18 digs.

Taylor Kirker had three aces, 35 assists and eight digs, Nigella Reck had 11 kills and seven digs and Lauren York had three aces and 11 digs.

Kearsten Wiggins had five kills and 10 digs and Reaghan Lamp had three aces and nine digs.

For Lehman, Taylor Geise had 12 kills and 20 digs.

Kailee Rank had seven kills, three aces and 19 digs, Kaitlyn Fortkamp had six kills, five blocks and nine digs and Layla Platfoot had four blocks.

Caroline Wesner had 22 assists and 13 digs and Megan Carlisle added seven assists.

Bethel, 9-13, will open Brookville D-III sectional play at 2 p.m. Saturday against the Versailles-Dixie winner.

Karlee Plozay had six kills and 14 aces and Karinne Stormer had seven kills and four aces.

Gabi McMahan had 15 assists and six aces and Jackie Edmondson served eight aces.

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton volleyball team closed the regular season with a-23, 25-18, 25-19 win over Yellow Springs.

Newton, 15-7, will open Troy D-IV sectional play at 3:30 p.m. Saturday against the Covington-Troy Christian winner.

Katelyn Walters had 17 kills and Hannah Biedelman added seven kills.

Ella Rapp had 18 assists and Kaylee Deeter had six kills and five aces.

Eva Bowser had six digs and Maddie Walters added 14 assists.
