PIQUA — The Piqua High School Winterguard and Elementary Flagline will be hosting a community performance this Wednesday, March 30, at the Piqua High School starting at 7 p.m.

Both groups will be doing their competition performances ahead of the MEPA Championships, which take place on April 2 at Wright State’s Nutter Center. The Winterguards performance is titled “Solitary” and Flagline’s is “Bell.” Troy and Franklin’s High School Winterguards will also be performing at the event that is serving as a parent and community showcase.

This performance comes at the back end of what has been a successful season for both the Flagline and Winterguard. Piqua’s Winterguard has placed first in all but one of their competitions in the Scholastic AA class. While the Elementary Flagline, comprised of fourth through sixth grade students, competes in their own class, it is still a valuable and formative experience for them, and “they have done exceptionally well,” said Assistant Director Wyatt Heinz.

Wednesday’s performance will also double as a food drive, and all who attend are encouraged to bring items for donation.

The MEPA Championships take place on April 2. The Elementary Flagline will perform at 9 a.m. and the Winterguard performs at 11:13 a.m.
