M-U banquet canceled

WEST MILTON — The annual M-U Alumni Banquet, scheduled for May 16, has been canceled due to the current pandemic.

Non-profit leaders to discuss impact

TROY — The Miami County Continuum of Care, in conjunction with the Troy Foundation will hold a teleconference at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 2 to discuss the local non-profit response to the COVID-19 virus in Miami County. Non-profit leaders will discuss how the COVID-19 virus has had an impact on front-line service delivery provided by these non-profits as well as discussing ways local individuals can help support these non-profit organizations in their community.

Law enforcement memorial canceled

TROY — As a result of the renovation of Courthouse Plaza and the current the COVID-19 situation, the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service set for May 2020 be canceled.

Miami County did not have to add another name to the memorial in 2019, and the nation experienced a 27 percent decrease in line of duty deaths and a 9 percent decrease over the past five years, according to Lance Ray, secretary, Miami County FOP Lodge No. 58.

Site closed to public

PIQUA — The Johnston Farm & Indian Agency is currently closed to the public.

As a part of the Ohio History Connection site system, the site will re-open according to their direction.

Individuals who have registered for upcoming events will be contacted regarding the rescheduling or cancellation of these programs.

Tax filing, payment extended

PIQUA — On March 27, the Ohio Tax Commissioner extended the due date for filing and payment of state and municipal income tax to July 15, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Therefore, the city of Piqua income tax returns and payments for the 2019 tax year with a due date of April 15, 2020 have been extended to July 15, 2020. Estimated payments for the first and second quarters of the 2020 tax year have also been extended to July 15, 2020.

The Income Tax office will be available by phone Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., by email at [email protected], by phone at (937) 778-2009, Ext. 4 to speak with a customer service representative, or by fax at (937) 778-1130. Forms are available for download at piquaoh.org.
