LAURA — A man is in custody following a Monday, March 27, 2023, homicide on North Montgomery County Line Road in Union Township.
Miami County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 7:31 p.m. on Monday to the 11000 block of the home in Union Township home after a male subject, identified as Brian Mason, 58, address at-large, appeared at the Miamisburg Police Department and advised officers that he had shot a female,
Officers arrived at the home, and after getting no response, looked in a window where they observed blood.
Deputies made a forced entry and found an adult female, later identified as Michelle L. Elliott, 57, of Laura, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Detectives were summoned to investigate and process the scene and interview Mason.
Miami County Coroner, Dr. Bill Ginn, ordered Elliot’s body to be transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for autopsy.
At the conclusion of the interview, detectives took Mason into custody and transported him to the Miami County Jail where he is being charged with murder. He is awaiting arraignment and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond,
