PIQUA — The owners of Green Goat Dispensary on North County Road 25A in Piqua are planning an April opening date for the new medical cannabis dispensary, after a series of state inspections are completed.

“There’s a whole process with the state of Ohio,” co-owner Cindy Bradford said. “Once you actually get your occupancy permit for your location, then you have to have inspections from the state.”

“At this point in time, it’s looking like the end of April,” she said. “We’ll go through a series of inspections with our agent, and then it usually takes about a two-week period to open after that.”

When complete, the new dispensary will feature approximately 4,000-square-feet of retail space and a drive-through window. The dispensary is located at 8866 N. County Road 25A.

“The exterior is almost complete,” Bradford said. “The interior is what they’re working on.”

Signs for the building are on back-order, and may or may not be installed before the dispensary opens.

“Signage right now takes forever,” she said, “so we may have a grand opening without signage on the exterior, but the biggest thing is that we get open.”

Green Goat Dispensary LLC. started with a dispensary in Coshocton, which the company recently sold to fund their expansion in other areas.

“We’re a mom-and-pop-shop,” Bradford said. “We opened our first location in Coshocton.”

“We actually sold that in December of 2021, in preparation for the next round of licensing,” she said. “We wanted to make sure we had the same advantages as some of the out-of-state individuals applying for dispensaries in the state, like some of the multi-state operators.”

In addition to Piqua, the company is also currently finishing two other new dispensaries that will open soon.

“Our first location is going to be in Harpster, Ohio which is right in between Marion and Upper Sandusky,” Bradford said. “Our grand opening is next Tuesday. We are also going to have a dispensary in Canton, and that’s probably going to open shortly after the Piqua location does.”
