YWCA to host Pereyma O’Neal on Ukrainian family traditions

PIQUA — Join us as we celebrate our 104th annual YWCA Piqua meeting starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, with special guest speaker Christina Pereyma O’Neal.

She will be sharing her Ukrainian family traditions including pysanky (decorated eggs).

An artist and Troy resident, O’Neal is a first generation Ukrainian American.

She gave a presentation on pysanky at PechaKucha Night in Dayton on the day Russia invaded Ukraine last year. In March 2022, the Dayton Art Institute displayed Ukrainian Easter eggs created by O’Neal’s mother, Aka Pereyma.

Do not miss out on a program that is certain to intrigue, inspire, and educate. RSVP your reservation by calling YWCA Piqua at 937-773-6626 by 8 p.m. on Monday, April 10. The hour-long program is free and open to the public at 418 N. Wayne St., Piqua.

Lunch is $7 and served at noon.

Every luncheon includes free blood pressure and glucose screenings from 10:15 to 11 a.m. provided by a Premier Community Health nurse.
