NEW CARLISLE — The Piqua boys basketball team dropped to 5-3 with a 69-66 loss to Tecumseh Saturday night.

The Indians led 17-16 after one quarter, but trailed 29-28 at halftime and 52-43 after three quarters.

Dre’Sean Roberts had 20 points and six assists and Josh Crusey scored 20 points.

Bryson Roberts had 14 points and five assists and Anson Cox had seven points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Fairlawn 64

Covington 46

SIDNEY — The Covington boys basketball team dropped to 2-9 with a road loss.

Covington trailed 15-9 after one quarter before taking a 27-26 halftime lead.

Fairlawn went back in front 45-42 after three quarters.

Cole Maxson led Covington with 12 points.

Tyler Alexander scored 10 points, Owen Boehringer netted nine points and Britton Miller added seven points.

Newton 65,

Houston 45

HOUSTON — The Newton boys basketball team improved to 7-4 with a road win.

The Indians led 17-11, 34-23 and 49-34 at the quarter breaks.

Harold Oburn had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Chandler Peters had 18 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Hudson Montgomery had nine points and five rebounds and Quinton Smith, Clark Yoder and Quinn Peters all scored six points.

Butler 46,

Tipp 44

VANDALIA — The Tippecanoe boys basketball team was surprised by Vandalia-Butler Friday night 46-44.

Tipp dropped to 6-2 overall and and 5-1 in the MVL, but with Piqua’s loss to Troy the Red Devils maintained a share of first in the MVL

Tipp trailed 14-9 after one quarter, but the Red Devils led 25-20 at halftime and 35-31 after three quarters.

Gavin Garlitz had 11 points and Evan Manes scored 10 points.

Josh Dietz had six points and eight rebounds and Cole Coppock scored six points.

Stanley Clyne pulled down six rebounds.

Troy Christian 47,

Lehman Catholic 28

TROY — The Troy Christian boys basketball team remained unbeaten in TRC play with a 47-28 win over Lehman Friday night.

Troy Christian is 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the TRC, while Lehman drops to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in the TRC.

The Eagles led 7-1, 23-7 and 35-17 at the quarter breaks.

Lucas Day had 11 points and three steals for Troy Christian.

Noah King had nine points and Parker Penrod had eight points and four steals.

Alex Free and Ben Major each had six points, five rebounds and four steals.

Donovan O’Leary scored 10 points for Lehman and Justin Chapman grabbed 11 rebounds.

Michael McFarland had nine rebounds and three steals.

Bethel 50,

Miami East 48

BRANDT — The Bethel boys basketball team got past Miami East 50-48 in TRC play Friday night.

Bethel improved to 5-7 overall and 4-2 in the TRC with the win, while Miami East dropped to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the TRC.

Miami East led 16-13 after one quarter, but Bethel took a 26-23 halftime lead.

East led 40-39 after three quarters, before Bethel rallied for the win.

Casey Keesee scored 15 points for Bethel and Mike Halleg added 12 points and four assists.

Will Reittinger and Jason Bowen scored six points, while Jace Houck had four assists.

Wes Enis had 24 points and six rebounds for East, while Jacob Roeth had 20 points, five rebounds and five steals.

Milton-Union 61,

Northridge 46

WEST MILTON — The Milton-Union boys basketball team got a big win in TRC play.

The Bulldogs improve to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the TRC.

Milton led 16-12, 28-23 and 51-32 at the quarter breaks.

Connor Yates had 23 points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots and Blake Brumbaugh filled out the stat sheet with 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Cooper Brown had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals and Landon Bechtel dished out six assists.

Covington 56,

Riverside 54

COVINGTON — Cam Kirker hit a 3-point field goal with 18 seconds to go to give Covington a 56-54 win over Riverside Friday night in TRC action.

Covington improved to 2-8 overall and 1-5 in the TRC.

Riverside led 12-8 after one quarter and 24-23 at halftime.

The Pirates were up 40-34 before Covington scored the final eight points of the quarter to take a 42-40 lead to the fourth quarter.

Zeke Benedict scored six straight points to tie it and Britton Miller gave the Buccs the lead with a layup.

Riverside would rally in the fourth quarter, before Kirker hit the game winner.

Miller and Carter Maxson would score 11 points each.

Kirker had all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter and Benedict added nine points.

Newton 59,

Ansonia 50

ANSONIA — The Newton boys basketball team recovered from a slow start to beat Ansonia 59-50 Friday night in WOAC action.

Newton is 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the WOAC.

The Indians scored the final eight points of the opening quarter to lead 15-13 and increased it to 29-22 at halftime and 44-34 after three quarters.

Chandler Peters led Newton with 23 points, including nine in the opening quarter.

Harold Oburn added 15 points and 12 rebounds, Hudson Montgomery scored nine points and Clark Yoder had eight points and six rebounds.

Pr. Shawnee 92,

Bradford 72

CAMDEN — The Bradford boys basketball team dropped to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the WOAC.

Preble Shawnee led 16-13, 42-31 and 61-44 at the quarter breaks, before the two teams combined for 59 points in the fourth quarter.

Parker Davidson had 33 points, eight rebounds and four assists and Nolan Case had 13 points.

Landon Monnin had eight points and four assists, Landon Wills had seven points and Owen Canan had six points and seven assists.

Zage Harleman pulled down five rebounds.
