TROTWOOD — The Bradford girls basketball team advanced with a 52-47 double overtime win over Catholic Central in Trotwood D-IV action Tuesday night.

Bradford, 15-9, will play Covington in a district semifinal at 11 a.m. Saturday.

And with the Irish defense clamping down on Bradford’s leading scorer Austy Miller in the second overtime, the Railroaders needed someone else to step up with the game in the balance.

Fittingly, senior Alexis Barhorst rose to the occasion by knocking down a pair of three pointers — the second coming in the final minute to break a 47-47 tie.

Austy Miller, who tallied a game-high 27 points, converted on a pair of free throws to seal five-point win.

Bradford had led 21-13 at halftime, but the Irish tied it 26-26 after three quarters.

It was tied 42-42 at the end of regulation and 47-47 at the end of the first overtime.

Barhorst and Brooklyn Crickmore both scored six points and Abby Fike and Rylee Canan both scored five points.

TROTWOOD — Covington and Troy Christian hooked up for the third time this season in Trotwood D-IV action.

And much like the previous two contests between the TRC rivals, Covington was able to pull away for a double-digit win.

Covington, 20-4, will play Bradford at 11 a.m. Saturday in a district semifinal.

Both teams struggled early hitting shots as the scoreboard read 7-5 in favor of Covington at the end of one.

But Covington was able to take over the momentum with an 11-0 run to start the second and eventually pushed its lead to 23-9 at the break.

Troy Christian was able to chip into the lead and cut the Covington advantage to eight points midway through the third, but the Lady Buccs took control one again at Gracie Anderson sparked a 40-26 lead at the end of the third with a pair of three-pointers.

Covington extended its lead to 21 points late in the fourth quarter before emptying the bench en route to a 19-point win.

The Lady Buccs used balanced scoring to keep the Troy Christian defense guessing as four players scored in double figures for Covington.

Claudia Harrington led the way with a game-high 13 points, while Gracie Anderson had 12, Carlie Besecker scored 11, and Maggie Anderson dropped in 10 points.

Claire Fraley added five points.

Troy Christian was led by senior Sarah Johnson, who scored 12 points.

Jocey Hill scored nine points and Brooklyn Lavy scored six points for the Eagles, who finish 11-12 on the season.
