Bradford Public Library announces March events

BRADFORD — The Bradford Public Library is excited to turn the calendar to Spring. Here is what the library has planned for March.

Preschool Story Hour will be held each Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon, except for Election Day on March 19. Registrations are required to attend these fun-filled programs to prepare preschoolers for kindergarten. Please call or stop by to register.

Mike and Judy Feinstein of The Stillwater Stargazer Astronomy Club will give an eclipse presentation on Tuesday, March 5, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This informal presentation will highlight the science of eclipses and what to expect on April 8 and will be followed by hands-on crafts and activities for any children attending. Registration is not required for this all-ages event. Participants will go home with one free pair of Solar Eclipse glasses while supplies last.

The Nifty Needlers Fiber Arts Club will meet on Thursday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their projects to work on during these informal meetings. Guests can get inspiration for their next project, show off their work, get advice from other artists, or learn how to do cross stitch, embroidery, knit, crochet, sew, or quilt. No registration is required.

Homeschool students in grades 1 through 8 are welcome to attend the STEAM Workshop on Thursday, March 14, from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. These hands-on workshops are free to attend and will help encourage a love for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. No registration is required.

Senior Citizens will meet to play euchre on Thursday, March 14, and March 28, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. All are welcome to join.

Just Glue It will be held on Tuesday, March 19, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Attendees will craft a hanging floral arrangement using tin cans, paint, and decoupage perfect for their front door or wall this spring. The cost for this class will be $5 per person. Registration will be available on March 1, and space is limited to 24 participants.

BINGO is back on Thursday, March 21, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Always free to play, players are welcome to bring a prize to share valued at $5 or less. No registration is required to attend.

Terrific Tuesdays will continue this month. Light snacks will be provided at each event. March 5 will be a fun obstacle course for preschoolers from 2 to 3 p.m. March 12, students in grades k-5 will do a scavenger hunt around the library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Teens will be making a set of drink coasters on March 19, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. using ceramic tiles and sharpies. Family Night will be on March 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. Bring the whole family in to create a unique piece of art for your home.

Prepare for the eclipse.

On Monday, April 8, the Bradford Exempted Village School District will present “All Eyes on the Skies” to the surrounding community. This family-friendly eclipse viewing event will include food to purchase by the Bradford Athletic Boosters, bounce houses, crafts, activities for the children, and entertainment for the whole family. Every person attending will be given a free pair of solar eclipse viewing glasses while supplies last.

Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and be prepared to be amazed as the sun disappears for a few brief minutes. Gates for parking will open at 11 a.m. The event will start at noon and end around 4 p.m. Liability waivers will be required and will be available at the library, on its webpage, and at several businesses in the Bradford area. Forms will also be available at the gate.
