Fundraiser meals back on tap
The Covington Christian Church Women’s Fellowship will host their second salad luncheon drive-through tomorrow, Friday, June 18, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or until everything is gone. Enter the drive-through from the alley off Pearl Street next to Covington Christian Church, and the CCC folks will deliver two containers full of their more popular salads, including the signature hot chicken salad and delicious desserts, all for a donation, right to your car window. All meals will be pre-packaged and ready for pickup, and unfortunately, they are not able to take special requests at this time. The pre-ordering ends today, June 17, by 1 p.m., so if one reads this column in time, call today to preorder and leave your donation, posthaste! And salads will be limited, so if you didn’t reserve already, please come early on Friday. The church phone to reserve deliciousness is (937) 473-3443.

Piqua firefighters respond to Piqua Public Library
Jim Oda, director of the Piqua Public Library, checks on the progress being made by fans and dehumidifiers following a reported fire inside a first-floor heating unit on Sunday afternoon. Assistant Chief Lee Adams of the Piqua Fire Dept. said it is a perfect example of the fire suppression (sprinkler) system doing what it was designed to do. While the fire never spread beyond the unit, the sprinkler system left standing water around parts of the library. Fortunately, the water was confined mostly to storage areas. Little, or no, damage was done to books or artifacts.
