TIPP CITY — After The Miami Valley Veterans Museum’s fifth annual Dancing With The Miami Valley Stars on Nov. 11, 2023, the museum saw it’s final check presentation on Sunday, Jan. 21.
The November event was coordinated and hosted by the Studio Outback located in Tipp City, Ohio having over 200 attendees which included performers from Dayton Dance Centre, Elegance in Dance, Dayton Ballroom, Dare 2 Dance and Studio Outback.
Dancing With The Miami Valley Stars had eight stars paired with various pros from the different studios. Competition was evaluated by six judges who are/were professional dancers, judges and studio owners having over 100 plus years of dance experience between them. The judges for the evening were Dorsey Napier, Kennedy Hartman, Rick Bowerman, Anita Williams, Dr Mike Trego and Bud O’Brien.
The competition had a two-part component: one competition was based solely on the dance performance, and the second competition was based on the amount of points raised by each star through ticket sales, auction items and donations. The winners of the evening were judges first place, star Les Rose and his partner, pro Cindy Mullins and the judges second place went to star Josh Smitchens and his pro, Sara Andrews. The second competition, the points portion, was won by star Fred Francis and his pro, Tia Maurer. Second place went to star Gabrielle Marion and her pro, Mike Hartman.
On Sunday, the final check was presented at the Miami Valley Veterans Museum in the amount of $39,206.
