Edison State’s Johnson, Siefring honored

PIQUA — Two Edison State women’s basketball players recently were honored by the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.

Johnson got a double honor.

For the week of Dec. 27-Jan. 2, Johnson was named OCCAC Player of the Week and World Exposure Report Player of the Week.

Johnson stuffed 27 points into just 21 minutes on the floor during a lopsided 101-47 win over Miami University – Middletown.

She reached double-double level, adding 10 rebounds with seven coming on the offensive glass. The sophomore guard shot 62 percent (13-21) from the field and chipped in four assists.

Siefring received the OCCAC Player of the Week honor for the ninth time for her play the week of Dec. 13-19.

She did it all in back-to-back Charger victories, totaling 34 points, 18 rebounds (10 offensive), eight steals, five assists, and a block. Siefring began the week with 20 points, seven boards, three steals, and two assists at Wilmington College. The Edison State road trip then stretched to Lorain County for a league game later in the week when Siefring registered a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double-double (along with five swipes) in the OCCAC triumph.
