COVINGTON — The Covington girls basketball team improved to 10-3 with a 44-38 win over Jackson Center Tuesday night.

Covington, 10-3, will play at Troy Christian Saturday in a varsity-only game at noon.

Covington trailed 17-10 after one quarter, 21-18 at halftime and 28-25 after three quarters.

A Claire Fraley basket gave Covington a 29-28 lead early in the fourth quarter and the Buccs never trailed again.

Claudia Harrington led Covington with 20 points.

Maggie Anderson scored nine points and Fraley added eight points.

CASSTOWN — The Miami East girls basketball team won a defensive battle Tuesday night.

East, 7-4, will travel to Milton-Union Thursday night.

The game was tied 5-5 after one quarter.

East led 15-13 at halftime and it was tied 21-21 after three quarters.

Maryn Gross scored 10 points.

Kayly Fetters added five points and Kennedee Elifritz dished out three assists.

PITSBURG — The Milton-Union girls basketball team cruised to a road win in non-conference action.

Milton, 6-6, will host Miami East Thursday.

The Bulldogs led 17-15, 25-23 and 41-27 at the quarter breaks.

Kearsyn Robison made eight 3-pointers and scored 26 points.

Jenna Brumbaugh had 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists and six steals and Shannon Brumbaugh added 10 points and six rebounds.

Ava Berberich had six points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals and Raegan Fulton had six rebounds and three steals.

Annie Smith had six rebounds and two blocked shots.
