Road closing scheduled

MIAMI COUNTY — Statler Road will be closed between Union-Shelby Road and Casstown-Sidney Road through May 27 for a culvert replacement.

Kiwanis Club speaker canceled

PIQUA — Air Force Lt. Col. Francis Saul of the 445th AW/WPAFB was previously scheduled to speak at the Piqua Kiwanis Club meeting on Wednesday, May 25, but that event has been canceled due to an injury. This program will be rescheduled for a later date.

Miami County YMCA Track Club

PIQUA — The Miami County YMCA is offering a Track Club on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning June 6, 2022 at the Piqua High School Alexander Stadium. This Club is for youth six years of age to 16 years of age. Participants may choose to learn sprints, distance, and long jump, and then have the option to compete in track meets at Yellow Springs. Learn how to tie a tie

PIQUA — Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church, located at 320 Park Ave. in Piqua, will be hosting a tie tying event at their church from 2-4 p.m. on June 11.

Greater Love Church will be giving away approximately 100 new ties and teaching guests how to tie them. The event is open to everyone, both men and women, to learn how to tie a tie. The event plans to hold demonstrations every half hour between 2-4 p.m.

Door prizes and refreshments will also be provided. This is a free community outreach event in memory of Gary E. Franklin.

YMCA Offers SPLASH Water Safety Week

PIQUA — The annual SPLASH Water Safety Week at the Piqua Branch of the Miami County YMCA will be held June 13-16. This program teaches basic swimming skills, pool safety, and boating safety for youth entering the 1st-6th grade. Times will be at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. for 45 minutes each session. This program is free for the community and has a limit of 20 participants per time slot, so please register early. Registrations are accepted in person or over the phone at (937) 773-9622. Bike Piqua announces 2022 Slow Rolls

PIQUA — Bike Piqua recently announced its 2022 schedule of slow rolls.

What is a slow roll? It’s a very chill ride through town with a nice group of people meant to help you discover Piqua’s bike paths and other easy routes through town. New riders are encouraged to join, and kids are very welcome.

The slow rolls will be held on June 13 at west French Park, July 11 at south French Park, Aug. 8 at south lower Mote Park, and Sept. 12 at north French Park.
