PIQUA — A Piqua man is in the Miami County Jail facing charges of first-degree misdemeanor Domestic Violence and second-degree felony Endangering Children.

Selemani Abdirashid Said, 38, was arrested following a February 1 incident at which time he alleged attacked his juvenile daughter and threatened to kill her.

Piqua police were dispatched to the apartment complex where the incident occurred after Miami County 9-1-1 received multiple calls of a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they confronted Said. When officers attempted to question the daughter, Said allegedly refused to allow them to speak to her alone. After speaking with witnesses who described Said pulling the young lady’s hair and threatening her life, Said was detained. Once taken to a separate room, the girl told officers of the abuse. She also related that late last year, Said had heated a knife blade on a stove and burned her face with the blade as punishment.

Said was allegedly upset after seeing a video of his daughter when she “linked arms with a male child at a birthday party in an elevator”.

Officers also observed a scar on the child’s face consistent with her report of the burning with a heated blade.

Said remains incarcerated in the Miami County Jail.

Piqua police are working with Miami County Children’s Services on the case.
