PIQUA – The Piqua Optimist Club is introducing their new “Avenue of Flags Project.”

This project allows individuals or businesses within the 45356 Zip Code to purchase a yearly subscription for a cost of $50 for a flag to be put outside their home/business for five holidays throughout the 2022 year.

The holidays include Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Veterans Day, and Labor Day. The flags will be placed and removed by either a member of the Piqua Optimist Club or a volunteer from a youth organization.

“All money raised will benefit the youth of Piqua through the Piqua Optimist Club’s many youth activities, projects, and donations,” stated Kazy Hinds of the Piqua Optimist Club.

The flags were purchased using donations from community donors, and they have been used for ceremonies and parades.

“We were looking for ways to get more involved in the community and to make people more aware of the Piqua Optimist Club,” Hinds said.

“Imagine the Piqua community awash in red, white, and blue as we show our Patriotic Pride,” a press release from the Piqua Optimist Club said.

For those who are interested in purchasing a subscription, check out the Piqua Optimist Club Facebook Page, contact them via email at [email protected], or fill out a form from the Lighthouse Café.

“We appreciate your support and commitment to the youth of Piqua!” the Piqua Optimist Club said.
