DAYTON — In a game at Day Air Ball Park, the Tippecanoe baseball team scored two runs in the first inning and made it hold up for a 2-0 victory over Kenton Ridge Thursday.

Braydon Bottles singled in the home first and Preston Zumwalt doubled.

Matt Salmon followed with a two-run single for the only runs of the game.

Tyler Minnich was 2-for-3 for the Red Devils.

Zumwalt pitched a two-hitter, striking out seven and walking one.

Piqua 1

XENIA — The Piqua baseball team got in an early 3-0 hole and never recovered in a MVL loss Thursday.

Covington 9,

Miami East 8

CASSTOWN — The Covington baseball team went on the road to win a wild one Thursday in TRC action.

The Buccs led 7-2 in the sixth inning and 9-4 in the seventh before Miami East rallied.

Jensen Wagoner was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Covington.

Kody Nelson was 2-for-3 and Tanner Palsgrove was 2-for-5.

Wagoner, Nelson, Palsgrove and Tyler Jay combined on a six-hitter, with 10 strikeouts and 10 walks.

Wesley Nidzgorski was 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs for East.

Luke Hammaker had two RBIs.

Connor Apple and Nidzgorski combined on a 10-hitter, striking out seven and walking three.

Milton-Union 10,

Riverside 3

DEGRAFF — The Milton-Union baseball team picked up a TRC win Thursday.

Peyton Nichols was 2-for-4, Nathan Thompson was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and Nick Walters had two RBIs.

Nathan Morter Jr. and Micah Russell combined on a six-hitter, striking out six and walking three.

Bradford 14,

Shawnee 4

BRADFORD — The Bradford baseball team got a five-inning win in WOAC action.

Keaton Mead was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Landon Monnin had a double and two RBIs.

Brenden Baker was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Hudson Hill had a double and two RBIs and Parker Davidson was 2-for-3.

Monnin pitched a six-hitter, striking out one and walking three.

SOFTBALL

Piqua 16,

Xenia 13

XENIA — Caylee Roe and Reagan Toopes powered Piqua to an MVL win in eight innings.

Roe was 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and six RBIs.

Toopes had two home runs as well and was 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

Olivia Anthony was 3-for-5 with a double and Tarika Sutter was 2-for-5 with a triple.

Audrey Bean was 2-for-6 with two RBIs, Emily Kizer was 2-for-3 and Brielle Penley was 2-for-4.

Anthony and Julia Coppes combined to strikeout three and walk four.

Riverside 6,

Milton-Union 1

DEGRAFF — The Milton-Union softball team dropped a TRC game Thursday.

Raegan Fulton had a double for the Bulldogs.

Carly Zimmer pitched a seven-hitter, striking out nine and walking four.

Ansonia 12,

Bethel 9

ANSONIA — The Bethel softball team dropped a road game in non-conference action.

Paige Kearns was 4-for-5 with five RBIs, Lily Williams was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Allie Sheen was 3-for-4.

Morgan Rodgers was 3-for-5 and Alyson Bird and Courtney Eschete both doubled.

Williams pitched a nine-hitter with seven strikeouts and seven walks.

Bradford 8,

Shawnee 3

BRADFORD — The Bradford softball team got a win over Preble Shawnee in WOAC action.

Austy Miller was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Izzy Hamilton was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Abby Fike was 2-for-4 with a double.

Nylani Beiereis had a double.

Beireis and Hamilton combined to strikeout four and walk one.

Moon Area 14,

Newton 3

The Newton softball team dropped a game in Tennesse Thursday afternoon.

Laci Miller and Layla VanCulin combined to strikeout six.
