Tipp girls swim to MVL title; Troy bowlers sweep Tipp

TROTWOOD — The Miami Valley League swimming championships were held over the weekend at Trotwood-Madison.

Tipp won the girls competition with 476 points, while Troy was third and Piqua finished ninth.

Abigail Haas and Kathryn Oen won twice for Tipp.

Haas swept the 200 freestyle, 2:05.86 and 500 freestyle, 5:29.52; while Oen won the 100 freestyle, 1:09.37 and 200 IM, 2:19.11.

Tipp also won the 200 freestyle relay, 1:45.67 and the 200 medley relay, 1:45.67.

Simone Cox took second in the 50 freestyle, 25.54 and the 100 freestyle, 57,47.

Alex Voisard took second in the 100 backstroke, 1:10.48 and the 200 IM, 2:21.52.

Maeve McMaken took second in the 100 backstroke, 1:09.15 and Tipp also took second in the 400 freestyle relay, 3:57.72.

Taylor Dietz finished third in the 200 freestyle, 2:07.99 and the 100 butterfly, 1:07.71.

Gracie Ganger took third in the 100 breaststroke, 1:16.75.

Anika Hurley led Troy, winning the 100 butterfly, 1:05.14 and finishing third in the 50 freestyle, 26.21.

Troy won the 400 freestyle relay, 3:57.27, finished second in the 200 medley relay, 1:48.38 and Hailey Honeycutt finished third in the 100 freestyle, 58.34.

Colleen Cox led Piqua, sweeping the 50 freestyle, 25.39 and 100 freestyle, 55.40.

Libby Bradney won the diving, 190.70 and Carsyn Meckstroth was second, 116.30.

Tippecanoe boys finished third with 225 points, while Troy finished eighth and Piqua finished ninth.

Ben Prenger led Tippecanoe, winning the 200 freestyle, 1:51.24.

Tipp finished third in the 200 freestyle relay, 1:40.65 and 400 freestyle relay, 3:47.38.

Troy’s Andrew Oates finished third in the 100 breaststroke, 1:02.27 and 200 IM, 2:09.15.

East swimmers

sweep meet

TROY — The Miami East swimming teams swept a meet Saturday with Troy Christian, Newton and Botkins.

Boys team scores were Miami East 123, Botkins 69, Troy Christian 35.

Winning for Miami East were Camden Richter, 200 freestyle, 1:58.59; Caleb Richter, 200 IM, 2:36.02; 200 freestyle relay, 1:45.54; and 400 freestyle relay, 4:00.63.

Troy Christian was led by Caleb Reno, who swept the 100 freestyle, 51.0; and 100 backstroke, 59.44.

Also winning for the Eagles were Noah Tullis, 50 freestyle, 26.12; Ben Klint, 100 freestyle, 57.47.

Girls team scores were Miami East 121, Botkins 69, Troy Christian 33, Newton 12.

Winning for Miami East were Sumsaar Thapa, 200 IM, 2:47.90; Marisa Savini, 50 freestyle, 28.37; Annie Richters, 500 freestyle, 6:04.86; the 200 medley relay, 2:14.54; the 200 freestyle relay, 1:53.59; and the 400 freestyle relay, 5:22.06.

Carsen Voisnet led Troy Christian, sweeping the 200 freestyle, 2:15.22; and 100 backstroke, 1:10.66.

Also winning for the Eagles was Hailey Howard, 100 breaststroke, 1:23.85.

Winning for Newton was Kendra Kern, 100 butterfly, 1:13.64.

TROY — The Troy bowling teams swept Tippecanoe Friday in MVL action.

Troy boys improved to 13-1 with a 2,344-2,023 win.

Tipp dropped to 5-9 on the season.

Troy had games of 963 and 1,127, followed by baker games of 143 and 161.

Nathan Hamilton had games of 204 and 258 for a 462 series, while Bryce Massingill had games of 221 and 216 for a 437 series.

Jordan Adams had games of 205 and 226 for a 431 series and Tyler Stoltz rolled games of 180 and 203 for a 383 series.

Drew Snurr rolled a 224 game and Brayden Ganger added a 153 game.

The Troy girls defeated Tippecanoe 2,147-1,616.

Troy improved to 12-2, while Tipp dropped to 6-8.

Troy had games of 818 and 922, followed by baker games of 183 and 224.

Jami Loy rolled games of 179 and 201 for a 380 series, while Kaitlin Jackson had games of 165 and 206 for a 371 series.

Kylie Schiml rolled games of 172 aand 173 for a 345 series, while Morgan Shilt had games of 118 and 180 for a 298 series.

Kayleigh McMullen had a 184 game, while Aiyanna Goodwin had a 162 game.

Newton bowlers

lose to Versailles

VERSAILLES — The Newton bowling teams lost to Versailles Saturday at Community Lanes.

The Newton boys lost 2,879-2,425.

Dalton Trucksis rolled games of 204 and 163 for a 367 series.

Jon Maxwell had games of 161 and 163 for a 324 series and Spencer Newhouse had games of 167 and 176 for a 343 series.

The Newton girls lost 2,285-1,779.

Alyssa Hampton rolled games of 153 and 164 for a 337 series.

Deanna Bucholtz had games of 157 and 126 for a 283 series and Avery Hartman rolled games of 138 and 118 for a 256 series.
