Tippecanoe diamond teams get wins

In its opening game on its trip to Florida, the Tippecanoe baseball team opened the season with a 3-0 win over Lafayette Monday.

Matt Salmon pitched a seven-hitter for the Red Devils, striking out 11 and walking one.

Salmon led Tippecanoe at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

Braydon Bottles and Preston Zumwalt both doubled.

Tipp got the only run it would need in the first inning.

Jacob Bowerman singled.

After a walk to Zumwalt, Salmon had a RBI single to get Tipp on the board.

The Red Devils made it 2-0 in the second.

Braden Clausen singled and came around to score on a double by Zumwalt.

Tipp capped the scoring in the fifth inning with a solo home run by Salmon.

Stebbins 6

DAYTON — The Tippecanoe softball team braved the cold for a 23-6 win over Stebbins in five innings Monday in MVL action.

Charli Clausen was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for the Red Devils with a home run and three RBIs.

Ashley Aselage was 5-for-5 with a double, triple and two RBIs.

Maddie Carner was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs and Emma Davis was 2-for-5 with a double.

Kaela May was also 2-for-5.

Kyla Fry added a double.

Emily Miller and Ella Henn combined to scatter 11 hits.

Miller pitched the first four innings, with six strikeouts and two walks.

Henn pitched the fifth inning and struck out two.
