Tippecanoe girls advance in D-II sectional action

NEW CARLISLE — The showdown is set.

Top seed Tippecanoe and second seed Carroll will meet in a Tecumseh D-II sectional final at 8 p.m. Monday.

On Thursday, Carroll improved to 16-4 with a win over Northwestern, while Tipp improved to 22-0 with a 66-15 romp over Kenton Ridge.

The Red Devils led 24-4, 36-11 and 53-12 at the quarter breaks.

Ashleigh Mader had 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and seven steals.

Maddi Moran had the hot hand of the bench, scoring 11 points on 4-for-4 shooting from the floor including two 3-pointers. She added three assists.

Kenna Smith had nine points and three assists, Katie Hemmelgarn scored eight points and Rachel Wildermuth had seven points and six rebounds.

Olivia Spiller dished out five assists.

Piqua girls

lose to Elks

VANDALIA — The Piqua girls basketball team lost to Centerville 81-28 in Vandalia D-I sectional action.

Piqua finished the season 4-18.

The Lady Indians trailed 25-4, 50-11 and 70-19 at the quarter breaks.

Karley Johns scored 18 points and Reagan Toopes added seven points.

Lady Cavs

fall to Russia

SIDNEY — The Lehman Catholic girls basketball team dropped to 7-14 with a 61-25 loss to Russia in Sidney D-IV sectional action.

Lehman couldn’t overcome a slow start, trailing 6-0, 28-11 and 46-19 at the quarter breaks.

Anna Cianciolo scored 10 points for Lehman.

Heidi Toner had six points and five rebounds and Taylor Geise had six points.

Piqua boys

lose at home

PIQUA — The Piqua boys basketball team dropped to 7-14 overall with an 80-45 loss to West Carrolton in MVL action.

Piqua stayed closed for a half, trailing 17-11, 35-33 and 61-36 at the quarter breaks.
