The Troy Metro Basketball fifth-grade girls basketball team finished a sensational season with a 2020 Dayton Metro Division 3 North Division year-end tournament championship, completed in early March. The tournament was held at Sidney Middle School.

In league play against Arcanum, Brookville, Graham, Piqua, Sidney, Tecumseh and Troy Christian, Troy placed second overall with a record of 11-3. But in the double-elimination tournament, Troy opened with 24-11 win over Piqua. In the next two rounds, Troy battled with narrow wins over Graham, 25-23, and Brookville, 22-21. In the championship round, Troy lost 27-22 to loser’s bracket champion Graham, forcing a winner-take-all final game. Troy regrouped the following week to beat Graham in that championship final, 26-24 to capture the 5G Division 3 North Championship. Overall, Troy finished the season with a 15-4 record.
