TIPP CITY — It came down to the last pitch, but the Troy baseball team was able to come away with a 5-3 victory over Tippecanoe at Tippecanoe Middle School.
The two teams will play again Friday at Troy.
The Trojans had taken a 5-3 lead to the seventh inning.
But, after a walk to Peyton Schultz and a single by Brady Liskey, the Red Devils had the tying runs on second and third with one out.
Troy closer Liam Evilsizor would then get back-to-back strikeouts to finish off the win.
Troy had jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on RBI doubles by Hayden Frey and Ryder Kirtley.
Kirtley would later add a solo home run to give Troy a two-run cushion going to the seventh inning.
Kirtley was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs.
Nathan McDowell pitched the first six innings and combined with Evilsizor on a six-hitter, with seven strikeouts and five walks.
Liskey had two RBIs for Tippecanoe and Landon Turner and Bryce Eckert both doubled.
Cayden McKinney and Carson Jackson combined on an eight-hitter, striking out five and walking three.

GREENVILLE — The Piqua baseball team remained unbeaten in MVL play Wednesday.
Hunter Steinke was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Mason Davis and Mickey Anderson both had one double.
Steinke and Jerry Anthony combined on a six-hitter, striking out one walking three.

Northridge 2
DAYTON — The Bethel baseball team got a road win Wednesday.
Noah McCann was 2-for-3 with a double and Braylon Schroeder was 2-for-4 with a double.
Grant Bean was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Evan Goodman had two RBIs.
Anderson Mohler had a triple.
Elijah Schroeder, Braylon Schroeder and Gabe Veldman combined on a one-hitter, striking out nine and walking 11.
