Work crews from the Miami Conservancy District replace storm drainage pipelines leading to the Great Miami River in Troy on Tuesday. The MCD removed gates on the dam in order to lower water levels to allow the work to proceed. It is the first time in eight years that the gates have been opened. The gates will be put back into place as soon as work is completed.

Piqua residents Brad and Courtney Petry, along with their daughter Katherine, 6, had the honor of ringing the church bells at St. Paul’s Church for services celebrating the 175th anniversary of the church last Sunday. The three bells have been ringing for church services since they were added in 1888.

Tippecanoe High School recently crowned seniors Trevor Hall and Anne Sinning as the 2021 Tippecanoe High School Homecoming king and queen.

Piqua High School students have selected their homecoming court for 2021. Queen candidates include, left to right, Elise Cox, Gabrielle Kinney, Camilla Nicholas, Isabella Reyes, Aubree Schrubb, Reagan Sloan, Reagan Toopes, and Carrera Whaley. King candidates are, left to right, Tate Adams, Conner Brown, Joshua Crusey Landon Hare, Paul Hinds, Caleb Lyons, Jasiah Medley, and Cory Miller. Piqua High School will have a homecoming parade through the downtown beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7. The homecoming game will be on Friday against the Tippecanoe Red Devils, and the dance will be held on Saturday at Piqua High School.

TROY — The Troy High School will hold its Homecoming activities this Friday, Oct. 8, before the football game with West Carrollton and Saturday evening. The king and queen will be announced Friday, prior to kickoff. The Homecoming dance will take place from 8-11 p.m. Saturday in the Trojan Activities Center. This year’s homecoming theme is “Saturday Night Fever.”

Covington High School Student Council is proud to announce the 2021 Homecoming Court. Court members, left to right, are Jensen Wagoner, Holly Beasley, Connor Sindelir, Victoria Grabeman, Garret Fraley, Claire Fraley, Owen Rawson, Emmaline Kiser, Ethan Kendig, Claudia Harrington. These members will be attended by first grade students Lucy Scott and Wesley Parke. The king and queen will be crowned during a pregame ceremony at Smith Field in Covington at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8. The Homecoming dance is the following evening at the Covington High School Cafeteria at 8 p.m.
