OSGOOD — The Russia High School Class of 1957 held its 65th class reunion July 13 at the Do Good Restaurant in Osgood.

FORT LORAMIE — A record-breaking crowd enjoyed sunny skies, temperatures in the mid-80s, and relatively low humidity on July 9, the third and final day of the sold-out Country Concert in Fort Loramie.

FORT LORAMIE — Mild, beautiful summer weather, with temperatures in the mid-80s on Thursday, July, 7, was enjoyed by concert-goers on the first official day of the three-day Country Concert at Hickory Hill Lakes in Fort Loramie, which was sold out for the first time in the event’s 41 year history.

SIDNEY — The man suspected of shooting a Sidney Police officer was taken into custody when he surrendered after at least an hour-long standoff with the Sidney-Piqua Tactical Response Team Thursday afternoon, Oct. 7, downtown Sidney. The suspect emerged from a residence on South West Avenue after being exposed to tear gas.

SIDNEY — Sidney Police are seeking help from the public to find the man who shot and wounded a Sidney police officer Wednesday night. As a precaution, Sidney City Schools are closed Thursday, as the suspect remains at large.

SIDNEY– Saturday, Sept. marked Continental Express’ annual driver appreciation picnic, where eight company drivers were recognized with awards of one million miles driven safely. The acknowledgments of this trucking industry feat highlighted the event, held at the carrier’s corporate terminal on State route 47 in Sidney, and also featured speakers, lunch and raffled prizes.

People hold up signs protesting vaccine mandates by private companies. The protesters gathered at the intersection of S Ohio Avenue and Court Street on Saturday, Aug 7 during the Farmers Market. The protest was organized nurses Alyssa Jennings, of Sidney, and Kelli Gordon, of Piqua. Jennings said, “We believe in medical freedom and personal choices. We’re both being mandated to get the vaccine in the next couple of months or we will be fired from our jobs.” Gordon said, “I have been a nurse for 27 years. As nurses we support patients’ rights. We support the individual choice to take the vaccine but not the mandate.” Jennings continued, “I’ve been a nurse for 2-years and I have worked Covid since the shutdown. We worked countless hours without proper protective equipment, being exposed everyday. My body has its own natural immunity. We thank our community for the endless support of our right to choose.” Gordon finished with, “We’re standing up to end the mandates for everyone not just health care.”
