TROY — The Miami County Commissioners, at their Tuesday morning meeting, authorized the appointment of Beth Hull as interim director of the Miami County Communications Center (MCCC) and a salary of $90,000 for the position, effective on Nov. 25.

Hull, the current deputy director, will replace Jeffrey Busch, who will retire on Nov. 24. Her appointment was approved by the MCCC Board of Directors and the personnel committee on Sept. 27.

Commissioner Ted Mercer praised the board’s decision to hire Hull.

“I’m not on the Miami County Communications Center Board of Directors, but from what I know of Beth, they made the right choice,” Mercer said.

In other business, the commissioners approved or authorized the following agenda items:

• A contract renewal with Homestead Décor DBA Valley Lighting Group Christmas Décor (VLGCD), of Troy, to rent holiday decorations to the courthouse plaza for the 2023 Holiday Season, which runs through Jan. 31, 2024. The new contract will include a base cost of $8,092.08 plus a 14-inch-lit garland to plaza railings along Main Street and lights for the new 20-foot spruce tree, for a total cost of $13,035.08.

• The purchase of an APX 4000 Series Portable Two-way radio and 2000T Series battery from Motorola Solutions for $3,645.10 to the Miami County Animal Shelter. This new radio will allow each animal control officer to be assigned to their own radio and responsible for it.
