For the Miami Valley Today

DAYTON — The 2022 Girl Scout Cookie Program began Friday, and Miami Valley Girl Scouts have set their goals, made their business plans, and will be asking friends and neighbors to purchase their favorite cookies. It’s consumers’ first opportunity to try Adventurefuls, an indulgent brownie-inspired cookie with caramel-flavored crème and a hint of sea salt, with an incredible taste of adventure in every bite. Adventurefuls joins the whole portfolio of iconic Girl Scout Cookies, including favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs.

For the next few weeks, Girl Scouts will be taking individual orders and selling cookies through the Digital Cookie online platform for direct shipment or local delivery. From Feb. 18 through March 20, they will hold cookie booths at local businesses and drive-through locations. Still facing challenges from the ongoing pandemic, girls are adapting their sales methods in creative, socially distant, and contact-free ways to keep themselves and their customers safe.

“Girl Scout Cookies are a bright spot for so many people each year, and they lead to many adventures for girls all year long,” said Roni Luckenbill, CEO of Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. “Girls set their cookie goals with dreams of spending time at summer camp, going horseback riding for the first time, serving our community, and exploring the world with trips to museums or national parks.”

Every Girl Scout Cookie purchase fuels local Girl Scouts’ adventures throughout the year. Whether they’re using their STEM skills to solve a problem, braving a new outdoor challenge, or working for change in their community, Girl Scouts build a better future for themselves and the world. Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls get a taste of being entrepreneurs and learn important online and offline business skills that set them up for success in life.

To support these young entrepreneurs in achieving their goals, area residents can:

• Reach out to a Girl Scout they know personally and find out how she’s taking orders.

• Enter their email address at www.gswo.org/findcookies to receive notifications when local cookie booths open.

• Text COOKIES to 59618, or use the official Girl Scout Cookie Finder app (free on iOS or Android) to find cookie booths when they open in the area.
