TROY — The Piqua girls basketball team lost to Bellbrook 73-29 in Troy D-I sectional action at the Trojan Activity Center.

Piqua stayed close for one quarter, trailing 15-11 before Bellbrook pulled away.

Piqua closes the season with a 3-20 record.

Taylor Scohy led Bellbrook with 20 points.

Olivia Trusty had 12 points and seven rebounds and Alayna Meyer scored 11 points.

Northwestern 34

NEW CARLISLE — The Tippecanoe girls basketball team advanced in Tecumseh D-II sectional action.

Tipp, 12-11, will play Graham at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in second-round action.

Carlisle 37

Bethel 31

COVINGTON — The Bethel girls basketball team closed the season at 20-3 after an opening round loss in the Covington D-III sectional to 13 seed Carlisle.

Lehman 16

SIDNEY — The Lehman Catholic girls basketball team dropped a first-round game in Sidney D-IV action.

Lehman, 7-14, will play at Northridge Thursday in regular season action.

Newton 47,

Milton-Union 40

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton girls basketball team picked up a home win in regular season action.

Both teams are 8-14.

Newton will open Trotwood D-IV sectional play at 7 p.m. Thursday against Yellow Springs.

Mercedes Craig had 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots for Newton.

Brooke Hines had 11 points and Emma Szakal had six points, six rebounds and six steals.

Camryn Gleason scored six points and Reese Hess had six rebounds and six assists.

Layla VanCulin pulled down five rebounds.

Shannon Brumbaugh had 15 points, nine rebounds and six steals for Milton-Union.

Kearsyn Robison scored 13 point, while Ava Berberich had eight points, four steals and four assists.

Raegan Fulton had eight rebounds and Jenna Brumbaugh had three steals.
